Food was amazing. That's the mark of a great restaurant. But what was more amazing was how quickly they rectified an order gone sour..too sour to be precise. Which is what the hot and sour soup turned out to be. But once we complained, all four bowls were whisked away with no hesitaion, new orders were taken individually and different... More

Maxim in west London is one of the best for gourmet Chinese anywhere in the region. They offer classic as well as specialty dishes...something for everyone. We enjoyed Peking duck and classic chicken & prawn dishes recently and after a few bottles of wine, ended up closing the restaurant...again! It can be lively and busy so make sure you reserve... This is really good quality food, far superior to most Chinese restaurants in London. The meat is really tender and the vegetables are fresh and not over cooked. Friendly but not over-bearing service, Maxim's provide a really pleasant dining experience. Highly recommended.

Went with family for a birthday party. The food is really good. The restaurant offers a dessert for birthdays. The manager also sings a happy birthday song to the birthday person and is really funny.

Went expecting a treat at the end of the week- had fabulous food and service in the past- but was most disappointed tonight. The prawn toasts in the starter were the highest point of the menu. The Peking duck was dry - usually my favourite part of the meal. Hubs enjoyed fish main course but we were put off by... More

Its almost impossible to get Chinese food wrong- we chose selections from set menus and were deeply disappointed. Mixed starter portions were very small and tasted pre prepared- straight from a warming shelf.Chicken saty was dry as were spare ribs. Duck was OK -dry and stringy though. Main course portion sizes were a joke- tiny- with beef and lamb overcooked... More

I was delayed by 10 minutes so our table was given away to someone else. We then had to wait in the lobby for about 15mins. That set the trend for the rest of the evening. The maitre d' appeared after a while and took our drinks order for while we were waiting. Once we were taken to our table... More

We always enjoyed the food in Maxims, but on our last 2 visits the food was ruined by having too much salt in it. Tonight, all I could taste was the salt. This spoiled our enjoyment of what was, otherwise, a good meal. I think we will be giving it a miss for some time.

Have been coming here for more than 30 years and it's consistently good. Best ribs anywhere, moist and succulent but not covered in messy sauce. Other highlights are the squid in peppercorn salt, chicken and cashew nuts and of course the crispy duck. A firm family favourite. It is expensive but worth it. Don't forget to tell them if it's... I quite like the food at Maxims. Its overpriced but generally tasty (and I live very close by so it's super handy). I ordered a takeaway last night - 3 main dishes, some rice and noodles, and a portion of grilled dumplings for my partner's son. I paid, left and got home and noticed that we had 6 boxes of... More

Description
Maxim is a family run restaurant, since 1974. In Ealing it is known affectionately by its customers as "Mrs Chow's", the lady in charge of the cooking, who believes in using fresh and natural ingredients. We serve authentic Peking Chinese cuisine with traditional starters from satay chicken to sweet-and-sour won ton to our, 'Signature: Spare Ribs'. Followed with our, 'Speciality: Aromatic Duck, a classic of its kind with crisp golden skin and tender meat. Or push the boat out with a whole lobster, halved and served with ginger and spring onion sauce. Side dishes like glossy, crispy green beans are equally good. Finish with deep-fried banana and apple, the crunchy coating giving way to soft, fluffy fruit.
