Went to Bengal Spice based on its good reviews and it was excellent food and service. We had poppodoms and pickles tray to strart which were really tasty and crispy followed by main courses. Chicken korma, tandoori chicken and I let the manager select my main course as he was really knowledgable and picked a mixed special chicken Bengali jalfrezi... More

Me and my family and group of 12 people went to bengal spice we got there at 1845 and we're welcomed by Ali. My family and I ordered our food and we were surprised it came in a reasonable time because there was a lot they needed to make. Overall the dishes were delicious. We will be definitely be coming... I've come here a couple of times on a friend's recommendation for a good BYOB Indian, and have loved it each time. The food is impeccable, the atmosphere warm and hospitable. Really one of my favourite places to eat in North London.

Went for a curry at Bengal Spice with a couple of friends this evening (Friday night) and it was some of the tastiest if not the tastiest Indian/Bangali food I've had. We had a couple of curries from Ali's specials part of the menu and one of the main ones. Very nice, very tender chicken and lamb, really tasty and... More

Under new management. Arrived and ordered... first concern was that they didn't know the menu.... Didn't sell alcohol so had to nip out to shop which was ok. Waited 20 mins for popadoms and noticed everyone in restaurant looked twitchy with no food.... saw the food delivered to a neighbouring table which looked bland, small portions and every dish looked... Came here with average expectations. Left with them far from being met. Arrived at 1945. Small restaurant but 4 tables left to be filled. Decent menu so ordered away. Starters - king prawn puri - were delicious and no doubt they were cooked fresh. Did take over 25 mins which should have set alarm bells ringing. By 2120 there were... More

Visited this restaurant for the first time in ages and it did not disappoint. Ali was as attentive as ever and the food was delicious. It is very different to your average Indian restaurant and you are encouraged to order one of Ali's specialities. We were frequent visitors to the former premises (Spices in Chapel Market) and it is nice... More

A somewhat hidden restaurant which used to be ok has now been taken over and the change makes it far better than just ok. With dishes cooked from scratch to order, every "safe" option on the menu is that little bit more wonderful and authentic. The owner who used to be situated in chapel market is now hidden making wonderful... More

Despite having to flee rising rents in Angel for a rather more remote location on the Holloway Road, Spices/Bengal Spice is still the best curry-house in London. I used to travel to Islington from Southwest London; now that we've both moved, I travel to the Holloway Road from Liverpool. Still worth it.

Delicious food, great service and food cooked to suit each person's exact tastes - heat, spices and sauces. Very well priced, and huge range of dishes to choose from. Will definitely be going back!
