My first bite of steak produced a metal staple! Thankfully I didn't swallow it. Not impressed!! Manager replaced the whole meal. I didn't make a big fuss because I was with business partners who were paying. But this is not what's expected in such a prestigious restaurant.

Basically, beef. Excellent beef. With some sauces to choose from, potatoes served several ways, very fresh salads. Cheerful and efficient service. Gets very crowded and noisy weekend evenings.

El Gaucho was recommended by our hotel concierge the first night we were in Chelsea. It was an easy walk from where we were staying and a delightful alternative to the pub food we had been enjoying. The waiter was attentive and clearly explained the menu. The steak was fantastic. Portions are large so we shared a 400g steak, which... More

Firstly - yes, this place is expensive and not necessarily the best steak but still makes for a fantastic venue for a special event. I came here for my birthday and was treated to a complementary assortment of little cakes which was lovely. The bill came up to a considerable £180 for 2 but it was a special occasion and... More

Popped in for a quick bite as it looked authentic Argentinian. Admittedly the steaks looked good, however we opted for burgers which had a highly processed consistency. Flavour was ok but the texture made you wonder where it was from. Ordered a side salad as well which was similarly questionable. Basically, the food just wasn't good. Service friendly, but slow.... Took my grandson there by chance and both his hamburger and my 1/2 portion steak and the chips were delicious. It was fun to eat outside. Simple and good.

I was taken there by a friend of mine and and it was nice experience. We had a nice wine, mix of meat, really felt comfortable. Overall enjoy this little gem in a great location.

Staying in Chelsea

Neighbourhood Profile
Wealth courses through The King's Road, Chelsea's upmarket artery of West London life packed with shops, eateries and glitzy nightspots. For people-watching at its best and luxury retail therapy that's largely unrivalled, this area cannot be missed. But if this showy street starts to overwhelm or a moment of price tag shock sends you reeling, a quick detour down pretty much any of many King's Road veins will reveal a quieter side of Chelsea. Here the stately Royal Hospital hosts its world-famous flower show, and the Thames rolls along at a lazy pace, with leafy Battersea Park and its Peace Pagoda beckoning from across the river.
