I had a pint several times in this pub over the last few days and it is very friendly. The bar staff were amused when I asked if they would take Scottish notes - "it's legal tender isn't it?". Well it is, although the reason I asked was the sniffy attitude I have had even in recent years towards this... More

We hired one of the private karaoke rooms upstairs for my sister's birthday and it was so much fun! The food was average and drinks a bit pricey but the karaoke facilities were excellent. Will definitely be back for that alone!

Decided to pop in for a quick lunch with a friend. Staff were incredibly polite and helpful and my large glass of wine was pretty good. Had the Welsh rarebit which was very tasty and good value for central London I thought. Loved the cosy surroundings and will probably go back. One minor criticism; our food took quite a long... Went on the thought of a wing backed leather chair, but can't see where this could be?! Nice enough atmosphere and good service by the staff - had the brisket burger and fries and although the burger was smaller than I expected they both were very good! Asked for vinegar and had it served in a plant pot.... Ok then....

First time i've been in a pub with worn out leather seating, but thats probably the style of the place! Tight fitting seating areas with heavy beamed seats. Plucked for a pulled pork burger style sandwich which was tricky to hold, and a cup of tea!

I hired the top floor of The Old Crown earlier this month for my 40th birthday drinks. Right from the first enquiry Louise, the events manager, could not have been more helpful. She happily showed me round the pub and answered all my silly email questions promptly and efficiently. When it came to the evening of my do we were... More

Highlight of our visit was the 3 ribs (beef, lamb, pork) for £15, all amazing but the beef short rib particularly so! A proper old-style boozer across 2 floors, my partner and I grabbed one of the booths and a few beers - we liked the 3 The OC beers on draught we had between us (pale ale, IPA, bitter).... More

Description
A public house re-imagined. A welcoming atmosphere, great food, great drinks. All day and all night in a building that has stood proudly for over 250 years .

Whether its good wifi and a place to work, a spot of lunch during a day of sight seeing, a place for after work drinks or some late night revelry we think we have got it covered.

Welcome to 33 new oxford st.

The Old Crown is a unique building located on the corner of museum street and new oxford street. The building dates back over 200 years and has a character all of its own. The venue is open to the public on 3 floors all of which have a different vibe to them. The old crown is a whimsical escape from the busy streets that surround and once you come in you get the impression it has offered this for quite some time.

You can find reference to The Old Crown in Hogarth's famous beer street & gin lane from 1751. The spire of St Gile's church is just on the opposite side of the street - so it is fair to say we have some heritage when it comes to serving a libation or two.

The Old Crown is owned and managed by the team behind Hidden Door Events who have been involved with this site for well over 10 years. Ali, Matt & Nick finally took charge in early 2017. We have loved this brilliant old building...as a friend of the family once put it,
"all roads eventually lead to the old crown".
