A really nice village that serves good beers and proper pub food. We visited on a Saturday night and although busy we managed to get a table in the bar area. Suited us as we had taken the dog with us. Steak pie and mash and scampi and chips were very good and a couple of local beers and a... More

As we were staying self catering in the local area, and frequently passed the Farmers arms, which we thought must be popular given the number of cars always parked on the road outside. We decided to give it a try. We received a nice warm welcome, and found a good selection of beers on offer, My husband and son shared... More

I found staff in the farmers were friendly. Given time me of year it was busy. Their beer was of a high quality. The pub is a welcome stop after walking in the surrounding hills. It's worth a visit if you are in the area.

Both my husband and I visited last evening after spending the day at derwentwater. Nice cosy and friendly atmosphere. We had some drinks and we both had the steak and ale pie. It was most delicious and a very generous portion. Our dog was welcome there too. We will definitely be back to visit. Thanks

Visited here for a meal whilst staying in a holiday cottage round the corner. Small menu but high quality pub food at a reasonable price. Very enjoyable!

We have just come back from staying in the same village as this pub. We popped in to ask if we needed to book for an evening meal and we're given a friendly welcome and told we didn't need to. When we came back that evening the gentleman behind the bar welcomed us immediately and couldn't have been more helpful.... More

Beer good and the only pub in Portinscale, Would only recommend for a beer and only a meal if you really cant be bothered to go into Keswick. The food is very ordinary indeed.

We went there tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Pub is full of character and characters. Extremely friendly and great service. Very dog friendly too. I had the giant Yorkshire pudding and it was delicious! Other half had burger which was slightly dry but otherwise not too bad. Definitely go back again, well worth it.
