My boyfriend and I stayed at The Gilpin the evenings of the 10th and 11th of September 2016. We found the staff and stand in manageress very very helpful. Our bedroom was lovely and cosy. The food at the restaurant was really very nice although a tad expensive. The Inn is a bit out of the way but very enjoyable.... More

Visited the Gilpin for an evening meal after a busy day exploring the Lakes. Looking forward to some hearty pub grub to satisfy our hunger but we were disappointed I'm afraid. The bar area was knee deep with a young farmers meeting and with only two members of staff, they were run off their feet. Had to wait an age... More

We had not been to Gilpin Bridge for a few years & decided to give it a try on route to Barrow . The menu was very limited, I chose the stuffed pepper, my husband sausage & mash. When it arrived two very small sausages on top of a mound of mash with a trickle of onion gravy , needless... More

There were 13 of us for Sunday Lunch, The welcome, service and meal were all superb. I would recommend the Lamb, the meat was succulent and the jus was the best I have ever had.

After being sat in traffic for hours we detoured for a walk and drive through kendal. To our suprise we found a dog friendly rest stop where the staff and decor were both lovely and welcoming. The food was amazing and served fast. The staff were genuinely friendly and kind and we will definitely visit again. Thank you for saving... More

On arrival we all noted the rather off putting smell as we entered and nearly chose to leave before ordering . Also that it was quiet cold inside. Should of heeded our first impressions. I was hoping since change of ownership i was going to be impressed. Was really looking forward to the meal. Firstly the menu choice is very... More

Very disappointing, won’t be rushing back. We had Sunday lunch at Gilpin Bridge Inn at Bridge End Cumbria today 13th March 2016. The menu advertised outside was not available, only a limited menu on Sundays. Service was not the best and the food ranged from, at best, average (Sunday Roast) to tasteless (fish). Would Not Recommend.

We visited Gilpin Bridge this Sunday and arrived shortly after noon. To begin with, there weren't many people there, but it soon filled up. The menu was quite varied with several choices for each of 3 courses. The lunch was plentiful with the vegetables served separately. The deserts were gorgeous. Our only complaint would be that it was a bit... More

We had lunch here. There is (currently) no menu on their website so we had no idea what to expect. It turned out that the lunchtime menu is very limited and it's what might be described as typical old fashioned pub food; gammon, battered fish, Scampi etc. I think everything came with chips and apart from peas and one vegetarian... Description
From beginning of November 2015 the Gilpin Bridge Inn has been taken over by locals & we plan to put this Inn back on the map. We have 8 letting rooms all with ensuite. A function room for your parties, meetings etc. A great selection on our menus both lunch & evening and on a Sunday we serve a traditional sunday lunch which can be accompanied by a cheeky pint or maybe a cup of coffee. When visiting you will only find the staff with a big smile, a great sense of humour & more than happy to help you so please visit & make yourself at home in our traditional country inn.
