The coffee and cake was so good we went back for lunch. We ordered the soup of the day and the ploughman,s lunch and both were excellent. The service was quick and efficient even though the camp fe was busy

We called in for a cream tea on Monday when we were inKendal for the Tour of Britain bike race. The food looked wonderful and I opted for the ultimate Cream Tea- absolutely perfect. Smoked Salmon sandwiches, scones cream and jam with a large piece of carrot cake and Victoria sponge! Teapot that you can get 2 or 3 cups... More

A nice place to rest and relax with coffee and cake. Or an earl grey with cake outside on the pavement seating. The cakes were gorgeous

A delightful place to meet with friends. Coffee, cakes and scones are very good and the simple lunches look interesting. Staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming and very attractive. Lots of tempting things to look at and buy too!

Armstrong Ward is a lovely, upmarket "lifestyle" store, selling everything from quality toys, quirky ceramics to fine furniture and lighting. The cafe, on the lower level, is well established now and serves excellent, homemade cakes, scones and savouries, all accompanied by some well-brewed teas and coffees. Service is friendly and prices are moderate.

Decided to try this cafe for coffee and my husband had a hot chocolate. Both were well made and very hot, lovely cozy surrounds, very difficult not to buy something here particularly upstairs with all the lovely nicknacks around.

Lovely cafe. Ate hear alone as my partner was cycling. Had the home made soup and bread which was delicious. Menu looks really good and I noticed the next table has cheese and meat pltters they looked scummy. The girl that served me was very pleasant and the service was very good.

Thrives on the fact that there are few shops of it's kind in the Kendal area, therefore the prices are high.

Within Armstrong Ward our small café is often described by customers as a "hidden gem". We offer a range of lovely cakes, scones and tray bakes, great coffee and proper loose tea. We also serve home made soup and sandwiches, all made with fresh, local and seasonal ingredients. We have a children's menu and daily homemade specials. We are accessible for prams and wheelchairs, have highchairs and a customer loo with baby change facilities too. A pay and display parking adjacent to Armstrong Ward café.
