This is a great place for lunch with an interesting menu and beautifully prepared and served by attentive staff. Definitely on of the better paces to eat in Kendal!

Thank you for the review, hopefully we will be open again in September 2016 as we are still recovering from storm Desmond which battered the restaurant in December 2015. Look forward to welcoming you back again. Darryn More

The floods have closed this utterly fantastic restaurant for the foreseeable future. We can't wait until the doors reopen as its absence on the restaurant scene locally is sorely missed.

Thank you very much for such a lovely review, the building seems to be almost dry and we are starting to see some improvement. Hopefully it wont be too much longer. We will keep everyone updated through social media as well as some press releases prior to our opening. We have missed all of our customers some who dine with... More

We had a lovely relaxed evening with excellent service at this restaurant before the floods. The food was excellent . My only negative would have been the decor was a bit out of date and slightly tired but hopefully a great positive with come out of the horrendous flood damage in that it is refurbished nicely!

Thank you for the positive review, the décor is set to match the era and keep the building within the theme of the 1400's. The décor will be changed but it will never be too modern as it would distract from the building. We are an apprentice training restaurant so appreciate your positive review. Darryn More

I was so sorry to hear that this outstanding restaurant had been devastated during the recent floods. The wonderful, refurbished kitchen has been ruined and Castle Dairy remains closed for the foreseeable future. Such a shame. The food here has always been superb. I really hope they get up and running again very soon. Good luck!

Thank you very much for the positive review, we all cant wait to get back in the building and enjoy what we do best. The whole restaurant was destroyed by storm Desmond and we are hopefully looking to open July/August. We do appreciate such lovely reviews from our customers, thank you once again. Darryn More

I have been to The Castle Dairy on two occasions now, one for my birthday when my partner & I had the tasting menu, and another time for lunch. No complaints at all. The tasting menu was absolutely beautiful in presentation and the quality of the food was fantastic. It is fine dining so not for those who want quantity... More

Thank you for the review, sorry that it has taken so long to reply. We are still dealing with the aftermath of Storm Desmond. Were delighted to hear that you have enjoyed your experience at Castle Dairy. You are very right in saying we are staffed by apprentices who are studying towards excellent qualifications in hospitality. It is lovely to... More

This was a birthday treat at the end of October. The place itself is interesting enough, but the food and service was very good, with a fine selection of food and drink to choose from the menu. I look forward to another visit sometime in the New Year.

Despite the heavy rain, we walked from our modest hotel to the restaurant. The building is very interesting and a great use of such a heritage site. It's great to engage with the young waiting staff, we wish them success for the future! I started with a beetroot and goats cheese mousse, the beetroot leather was interesting, the mousse was... Brilliant food, excellent service, and great to know that Kendal College's students are getting training in a topclass team. We'd recently eaten in a 1 Michelin star restaurant in Palma Majorca, and were really impressed by our meal there - and the Castle Dairy experience matched it! Well done to all - we shall be back!

We came across this unique and wonderful restaurant on a walk around Kendal, we looked at the menu and decided to book for the following evening. Are we glad we did!
