Visited on several occasions and never been disappointed. Staff are really friendly, service is very efficient and the food is well cooked, hot and tasty. Breakfasts are a must and have a size to suit all appetites. Don't be afraid of The Full Monty! A long established Kendal cafe and, in our opinion, THE BEST.

We go here about once or twice a week and it has only just occurred to me to put a review on Trip Advisor. It is a fantastic cafe with great food, don't be deceived by thinking this is a greasy spoon and won't be good, this place is one of the best places to eat in South Cumbria, if... More

I really like the Union Jack. Good old fashioned english cafe with great food. The "Full Monty" Breakfast is excellent, good quality sausages and bacon, and if you ask not to have one of the ingredients, they automatically put extra of something else on without even asking. Also comes with toast and tea/coffee, excellent value at £6 ... the only... More

I enjoyed a really good lunch of kippers and poached eggs here during a stop on a motorbike trip to the Lakes. Simple fare, great value and pleasant staff.

Tried this cafe due to the good reviews on here. Really disappointing, none of the food felt freshly cooked, I'm sure the sausages etc had just been sat there for a while. I understand this is a 'greasy spoon' but I've been to much better. Portion size also small, I won't be going back and wouldn't recommend this.

Now had a few breakfasts there and consistently very good. The staff are very good and friendly and polite. The price is very reasonable. The meal is freshly cooked unlike coming off a hot plate.

Headed to visit Museum of Lakeside Life but in need of a decent lunch first. Unfortunately the museum cafe was washed away in the floods and is operating at present in what appears to be a caravan that brings with it restrictions to operations. Just on the Main Street is The Union Jack Cafe. Turned out to be a great... More

Union Jack cafe in Kendal is the best place in Kendal for breakfast. You can get anything from cereals to full english and vegetarian. Prices are very reasonable and the food is great. Always service with a smile.
