I like the Gateway Inn. It is very conveniently situated just off the A591 at Plumgarths. It is obvious from the road and a very good stopping off point. The bar has been refurbished and is pleasant though, sadly, not always that busy. The draught beers are good and the service cheerful and helpful. the food menu consists of decent... More

Went for lunch What was listed as a sandwich was served on ONE PIECE OF BREAD which was toasted on one side as it was stale This was accompanied by cheap french fries and everything else looked like bits of leftovers thrown onto the plate So annoyed with myself that I didn't just leave I have lived in the lakes... Took my parents and daughter to The Gateway Inn to celebrate some good news! The decor is beautiful, we were pleasantly surprised having not visited since refurb. We ordered Soup and Sanwiches. When served, we thought the waitress had made a mistake and brought out a Soup someone had finished. There was the equivalent of 4 spoonfuls of soup in... More

Stopped in to grab a quick bite to eat on the way to The Lakes. Well located just off A591 this Twaites pub has a contemporary cosy theme. Think they were short staffed because it took a while to get served at the bar, but after that the service was great. Nice table with great views and the menu had... More

We visited as a family group of six adults and five children including for our youngest child's first birthday on new years eve. The staff were amazing and looked after adults and children alike with warmth. It was new years eve and so I think service staff could be forgiven for being a little jaded, but far from this was... Went with the family yesterday (Christmas Eve) for lunch -didn't want the festive menu (which looked good) as we were having a big meal later. 4 of us had the local steak pie which came with its own jug of gravy, seriously delicious chips and peas -we were all impressed. Other orders were salmon open sandwich (delicious) & burger with... More

Invited a friend to pay visit this place wasn't let us down. The food was decent size and the sirloin was lovely tender, nice ambiance is worth to visit again.

Bar staff do not know what a liqueur floater coffee should be. A lukewarm coffee in a mug with so little liqueur you couldn't even smell it in the mug. Then a tiny amount of cream in a jug!!
