I have been diagnosed Coeliac and this is our second visit up to the Lakes and this cafe in Grasmere. We even went twice this time. The first time for soup and a sandwich delicious, so nice to be able to have a sandwich, we couldn't manage the cake it looked great but we were to full. We went back... More

Wonderful home cooked goodies in a lovely, cosy and friendly atmosphere. The staff were cheerful and attentive. We had tea, tea loaves and cheese! Would definitely recommend to all.

Given the other reviews on here, were we in the same cafe ? It felt like style over substance. Firstly, the positives. Baldry's is very pretty inside, it's popular and the two waitresses worked hard to accommodate lots of customers. I asked what the gluten free options were, as the menu doesn't indicate what is GF, and was directed to... More

We stopped for lunch because the sign outside said everything homemade and baked fresh daily. Inside, the tea rooms were perfectly clean and beautifully decorated. The waiter was welcoming and professional and the tables were cleared and quickly cleaned inbetween each customer. I had a cheese scone with cream cheese and smoked salmon and Pete had a scone with jam... More

Had freshly baked scone with clotted cream & jam with coffee. My boyfriend said its the best he's ever had & i would probably agree. All served promptly in a very busy environment. Worth stopping in for sure!

This place is perfect- lovely food, lovely atmosphere, really quirky surroundings and the best homemade cakes! Service is very good and the coffee is excellent! My personal favourite is the raspberry and blueberry scone with homemade lemon curd which is simply divine! I return here time after time and it never disappoints!

Baldrys is a brilliant place to drink tea...the range on offer is huge and eclectic. The light meals ( Baldrys Stack for example) , the cakes, scones and tea cakes are English traditional at their best. Delightful staff and a cosy place to go when the weather is unfriendly!

A popular stop, and we were not disappointed. It was busy and we had to leave and come back in fifteen minutes before a table was free. But the food was simple quality and the atmosphere laid back and friendly. Recommended for couples and families.

Regular visitor to Baldry's when in Grasmere - something to look forward to after a day's fell walking. Fact we keep coming back says it all - never been disappointed. Everything is spot on - from the wide range of leaf teas and coffee supplied by Farrer's, Kendal to the excellent choice of mouthwatering cakes and snacks. Staff are very... More
