This place is very friendly and the lady who gave us our food was very nice. But I have to be honest, its not the best food... Like, pretty much the basics. Super basic. The gravy tasted like Bisto but extra salty? The toilets are amazing, honestly the cleanest toilets I've ever used in a pub. I don't know how... More

This small pub is about half a mile out of Coniston and therefore much quieter than in the village. The staff were very welcoming, there was a varied menu, including good vegetarian options, good range of real ales, and traditional decor. When we were there there were Santa hats on all beer taps and quiet Elvis music playing in background.... More

Regular visitor to Coniston and always visit the ship, great beer, great food (huge portions) friendly staff and landlord. It serves proper grub not arty farty gastro rubbish. Walk along the footpath near the lake or along the old railway line and a welcome awaits you at the ship. We'll be back.

Dropped in after 40 years and found nostalgia was right. Hazy memories of good food and beers turned out to be not false in this pub. Real ale, real fire and dog friendly so what more do you need?

Staying at the nearby Coniston Coppice Caravan site, headed out here for our first night dinner. Very welcoming, and the food was lovely. Had lasagne and the other half had steak pie - both very tasty and couldnt fault it. Will always go to The Ship whenever in Coniston.

Me and my other half discovered this pub after going for a walk around Coniston water. I am happy that we happened to have stopped by. Upon arrival there was no other people inside, however the man who worked there (possibly the owner) couldn't have done more for us! Prior to going into the pub it was noted that food... More
