Nice setting, lovely views but unfortunately the bloke who served us was extremely grumpy. Didn't utter a single word at all when serving us. Will not be going back.

Couldn't go walking, so the next best thing was the pub! A couple of pints and a game of dominos soon passed a couple of hours until the rain stopped. Didn't eat but what food we saw looked good.

Stopped in for a drink and ended up having Sunday lunch. The food was everything that I expected from a roast dinner at a good price. The "Sun" is in an elevated position so the restaurant enjoys beautiful views across the surrounding countryside. Well worth...More

We enjoyed a meal here on a Friday night. It was quite quiet, which we found unusual as the rest of Coniston and the other pubs were really busy but maybe people didn't want to climb the hill up to the Sun! Fairly decent pub...More

We'd just finished our climb of old man coniston and just what we needed was a pint and a snack. We had squid, tempura prawns and beer battered halloumi, it was delicious but what made it was being finished off by well dressed salads, each...More

Just returned from a weekend break. We visited The Sun Inn for an evening meal. The place was very relaxed and very friendly. The menu is limited however our party of 4 people had the steak and it was delicious! Could do with loosing a...More

The Sun Hotel is strangely still less well known that the Black Bull which always surprises me. The beer is excellent and they have usually about 8 different ones on. Food is OK, by that I mean its tasty and there's nothing wrong with it...More

OK - so I've been drinking there, on & off, for forty years so possibly I'm biased. I called in on a weekday night recently - once upon a time the bar would have been heaving with locals & visitors - food orders would have...More

I organised a 40th anniversary reunion for 15 University climbing friends. In advance we got the menu and booked our meals. We were delighted to find that the dinner was to be served at a single large table in the conservatory, giving us a great...More

Hadn't been in here for many many years but the Black Bull couldn't accommodate our party of 14 on a Saturday night so we went here. We had a superb table in the conservatory with amazing views over the village and lake - our waitress...More

I have just been to the Sun , and there were 2 or 3 dogs in the eating area near the bar, and 2 more in another room. Unfortunate smell of wet dog, but yes, pets seem to be welcome.
