Visited on Sunday evening. Quiet but still good atmosphere. Excellent bar staff- very knowledgable and helpful. Great selection of ales and gins. Would definitely visit again and recommend.

Since I was visiting some friends of mine in Cockermouth over a weekend, we decided to go eat at this restaurant/pub a couple of weeks ago for Sunday lunch. I had the roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, served with roast potatoes, some veggies and gravy. Meat was tender and savory, but all the rest wasn't much alike it, meaning insipid... More

We came here for dinner one night. We had booked a table in advance but we ate quite early so it was not really busy. We were given a table in the back room near to the beer display. One of the beers had tilted forward off the shelf and was leaning on the glass which for some reason annoyed... More

I came in on Sunday 22 January for lunch. I had roast beef the meal came out really quickly service was good. However the Yorkshire puddings were frozen from a packet. This was very dissappointing and spoilt the whole meal as Yorkshire puddings should be homemade in a food establishment. When asked at till if everything was ok I explained... More

This was the second time we had eaten at the Bitter End and the second time we enjoyed their food. We like the building and its location - slightly off the main shopping area - and the atmosphere was warm and relaxed, mostly small gatherings of friends meeting for a bite to eat and a drink after work. The choice... More

My husband and I went on a Friday night, hadn't booked a table so we had a little wait but the pleasant staff soon cleared us one, they have a great choice of Cumbria ales. We promptly ordered despite it being busy. The steak pie was to die for, and it is such a warm place to sit and relax... More

When my husband and I arrived with high expectations at The Bitter End Pub on a quiet June day, there were only 2 occupied tables (a total of 6 guests). We stood waiting to be seated for 10 minutes while 3 waitresses ignored us. We finally asked if we could order lunch, and were told, "Just sit anywhere"; after which... More

This is a really beautiful pub with its own brewery and a wide selection of ales and gin. Great staff and host, dog friendly, family friendly anyone friendly it seemed. A really accommodating place and very friendly people. Free parking is available with a disk which you can get from any local shops.
