My husband and I are vegan and visited the Rattle Gill Cafe a few times during our two week stay in the Lake District. The food was absolutely delicious, very reasonably priced and served quickly even when it was busy. The staff were warm, polite...More

We had coffee and cake which was average. The flat white was boiling temperature and not enjoyable. My scone was ok but not as good as others in Ambleside. Worth noting it is cash only. The location is beautiful but cake and drink didn't live...More

What a special find, tucked away at the back of the main st. Scones with jam and cream absolute perfection. Friendly staff, just such a quirky original unpretentious cafe selling high quality food. Salads and cakes looked beautiful. Will be back.

I love this cafe. It is cosy, unique and well worth patiently coming back to gain one of the six indoor tables. The service oozes friendliness and effeciency. The food is really good and served from a tiny kitchen. And the location. 50 yards from...More

I was determined to experience this cafe after reading about it on Trip Advisor. It was full on Sunday afternoon so we waited at a table outside. When it started to rain a lovely couple offered space on their table so we joined them. We...More

We open our doors at 10am and serve homemade food. We stop serving savoury hot food at 4pm to allow us time to prep for the following day. We do still serve teas, coffees and cakes until 4.30pm. Please do come and visit and fill your hungry tummies!
