We had the worst fish and chip lunch today! What has happened to this place!! Burnt batter, dried out fish and soggy greasy chips- we wish we hadn't paid the bill. Never again -what a pity!!! No wonder there wasn't hardly anyone eating in there...More

Called in for fish and chips and this well known Hull fish & chip shop/restaurant. The fish and chips were nice and a good size serving. But the whole place need a revamp and clean up. The floor was so greasy it was dangerous.

I remember enjoying Bob Carver's fish and chips as a boy at Hull Fair and in the open market. Either my taste has changed or they are no longer the good fish and chips of old. Not all was bad: the haddock was very fresh...More

My wife and I love good fish and chips, that description does not fit what we had today. The restaurant was cold, the fish and chips were disgusting, probably the worst I have ever tasted, swimming in grease refried cold chips, cold mushy peas. DONT...More

Walked out. Worst place. Dirty. Disgusting. Re-fried chips, fish was off. Grim. Do NOT go, ever!! We didn't get a refund, and wasted £27 on the order, which we all only had one mouth full. Truly terrible!!

Where to begin. I ate in. Ordered Haddock and chips. Swimming in grease, the oil was old and too hot so the batter was burnt. The fish survived just but the chips were disgusting- they used the wrong type of potato, too waxy which left...More

Decided to take my teenage daughter out to soak up some of the city of Culture vibe. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts at eating in Trinity Square we joined the queue for Carvers. The chips and fish were both cooked a little darker than...More

Went to the takeaway today and the chips were swimming in grease! The curry was not very nice at all and the sausage was dried up. I can safely say it went in the bin and I will never go again!

On a day trip to Hull went to the upstairs restaurant, which is very much traditionally styled with chandelier style lights, dark wooden furniture, dark red decor and plain white crockery. Service was a bit slow but extremely friendly and cheery. Having scoured the menu...More

Don't they have any air conditioning in the Chapel Street restaurant? I visited the restaurant on Saturday 17th January and there was a horrid and overpowering smell of hot smelly oil. The smell clung to my clothes and I could still smell it on my clothes the morning after. It's put me off going back.

Yes they do have air conditioning. Just ask a meme bet of staff to check its on or too turn it up.
