This pub ticks all the right boxes for a high quality traditional pub. It's well decorated, very pleasant. The snacks and drinks are good and the barman spot on. But the prices are STEEP! Handed over a £20 for a couple of drinks and a...More

We came here with friends who have a two year old daughter. We were impressed by the friendly staff, who took a relaxed approach to a toddler somewhat disrupting proceedings (as toddler's tend to do). We ordered the Deer Spheres for starters, (of which there...More

In a year or two some fancy-pants food critic from one of the nationals with bother to get the train up from London and put this place on the map. I hope it doesn't happen. Let's just keep it our secret. The pair of us...More

Staff very friendly & helpful my only cripe for the price l would have expected more than two small roast potatoes which were tucked hidden under the beef & Yorkshire pudd, my only disappointment. Quite expensive for a Sunday roast so l expected more.

An excellent Sunday lunch here today. Perfect roast beef, great starters and deserts, fabulous service and reasonably priced wine. Comfy seats and not rushed....we spent over 4 hours there. Highly recommended,

Thoroughly enjoyed our weekday meal. Good service and excellent food. Excellent cured salmon starters followed by venison schnitzel and hake with chorizo and potatoes. Then couldn't resist the sticky toffee pudding, and very glad that I didn't.

My partner and I visited for Sunday Lunch. Not very busy, but St.Albans in general was quiet and it was 3:30 on a Sunday. The pub was clean. We chose to sit in the garden which was pleasant. The staff were very lovely. My partner...More

We dropped in for drinks on a cold day,and received a warm welcome. The fire was lit,the staff friendly without being pushy, and a good choice of beers and wines. We only stayed for drinks but did peek at their menu, which sounded great. We will return...More
