Sunday Lunch is first class with a fabulous new chef onboard! There is a great sense of community with lots of weekly events which are well attended. There is a car... More

Lovely beer, great selection of wine and the ribs are the best in St Albans - you have to try them! 😍

I have eaten at the Portland quite a few times now and would definitely recommend for people to come and try it out, the food has been amazing every time I've been. The new menu has such a variety of choices, there is something for everyone, there is even a variety of vegan dishes.

Well looked after ales esp ESB although they'd run out on my second visit a couple of days later! Sunday lunch was lush & reasonably priced with plenty of options for vegans & veggies. I had a mixed meat with extra yorkie (at no extra charge) & struggled to finish it all! Just about a traditional pub still but heading... More

Same old operation style as Caz's pervious 19 odd pubs in 15 years. Nice to see nothing much changes. Even the same live music gigs, same food menus and Sunday roast. This place feels like an old friend to me. The beer is good and the people really nice. Let's hope Caz sticks around longer then a year this time,... More

This local community pub has a new landlady since November 2016. She is working very hard, and succeeding, to arrest the decline of this great pub. The decor has improved no end, as has the atmosphere, the beer is in great condition and the food first class for pub food, actually better, than what you mostly find in a lot... More

Took my partner and her family, who were visiting from Brazil, to visit a 'typical English pub' for Sunday lunch. Was better than I could have expected, the pub was a delight in itself and the food was amazing. Definitely recommend to anyone.

It is nice friendly welcoming local pub with high quality real ales. Sunday roast was well above average quality in comparison with other local pubs. Our visitors from America thought it a very British experience they will remember fondly!
