We wanted to go out for lunch on Friday to celebrate my wife’s birthday but wanted to go somewhere different. We haven’t been to the Moon Inn for quite a while and decided to just turn up without a reservation and see if we could...get a table. The service we had from when we walked into the pub to when we walked out was exceptional. The burger I had was the best I have had for many years and my wife’s cod and chips tasted amazing. The result is that we both felt we had a really special birthday meal and have now put the Moon Inn on our short list of pubs which are definitely worth a visit if you want to have a great experience.More
Staff welcoming and friendly but felt rushed no sooner we sat down they wanted our order. As soon as we finished the starter our mains were there. Offered a sauce with my steak thinking it came with my order, was charged £3.50… no where on...the website menu does it state the charge. The sauce was so thick it would not pour out of the jug. Two main meals were not finished due to the poor quality. Dessert was poor, heated up in microwave, sponge boiling hot custard just warm and the skin still formed. Felt we were in the way - staff preparing for the next day.More
Asked for a nice medium rare ribeye, what I got was a defrosted medium sirloin because it was recently defrosted it had consistently and taste of cardboard ,I don't like confrontation so just paid up and left, gutted really, drove 4 hours from Essex and really fancied...a lovely steak,at least give me a ribeye not mug me off with a totally different cut of meat ,if they had said we'll have to defrost it I'd have ordered something elseMore
The boys, 11 and 9, had a children's meal each. It was very good, they rated it 8 and 9.5 out of 10! The portion sizes are very generous. The staff are very friendly and helpful and there is a nice atmosphere in this pub....The wood burners are a nice addition and help to create a cosy environment.More
We were there as a 20-strong walking group (pre-booked) and the staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating to the wants & needs of these awkward-minded seniors. Perfection from start to finish with meals delivered in an efficient and timely fashion and will...all, irrespective of what they had chosen, declaring the food as "delicious". This pub is credit to the owners and their team and a MUST VISIT for anyone in the area!More
Very impressed this evening following a family meal. 31 of us in attendance and they waitresses and chefs smashed it! Very welcoming and accommodating. Food was beautifully cooked, not one complaint from our party. The ladies were chirpy, chatty and friendly. Thank you so much...for accommodating such a big group of us, and thank you for making it exceptional.. definitely 5 stars from us ❤️More
Very nice pub and restaurant with a warm welcome, excellent service and a good menu. The specials menu had some really interesting choices. We had steak & horseradish pie which was fantastic: hand-made, great pastry, excellent beef and gravy with a good hit of horseradish
This is now my local and I wanted to try it with my 5 year old autistic granddaughter. As many will know this can be challenging. From start to finish it was just incredible. Having staff ask if my granddaughter is ok with her food...to be touching on the plate otherwise they could separate it is like music to every SEN parent or guardians ears ♥️ cannot wait for many more date nights here. From the bottom of my heart. Thank youMore
What a great find. A real pub with great range of ales and serving very good food. All the serving staff area delightfully friendly. The pub has a warm welcoming atmosphere and there is plenty of car parking.
This is the second roast dinner my family have had here. They staff were extremely accommodating to my little 8 month old baby, with suitable utensils at the ready for us. They were friendly and interacted with him too, which put him in a very...happy mood! The food was brilliant, and a great size portion! The level of organisation amongst staff was great, they communicate well between each other and see to any requests promptly. We have had two very lovely trips out to the moon! Thank youMore
Friendly and welcoming place excellent staff who looked after you well, even a great experience in wheelchair, the food was very well cooked and presented and portions were all on the large side . On leaving you knew you had had a proper meal and were...not wanting anymore. Will definitely be returningMore
After a long walk from local campsite. Was lovely break . Lovely atmosphere and drinks choice brill. Menu looked lovely too. However check serving times. Garden area and parking. Also looked like had own campsite. Staff polite and helpful. Dog friendly.
Cracking Sunday Lunch (and Gluten Free too!). We arrived at the Moon Inn to complete the Dragon Trail (which is much more substantial than I expected). After a great walk, we were all hunger (4 adults, a baby and a dog). After initially entering the...pub and asking if there was a spare table, we got shown to the terrace around the back. It was a nice covered over area offering protection from the wind. Apart from a few grumpy locals (?), we settled right in and were welcomed by our host for the meal. She offered immediate responses when I asked about Gluten Free that reassured me I could have all the gravy with the Sunday dinner, everything on my plate INCLUDING a Yorkshire pudding. It's the first time in 2 years, I have come across this. We ordered some drinks, got the little one settled in a highchair and the dog a bowl of water and everyone was instantly more relaxed and amazed at the available food options. We even discussed the board labelled 'probably' the best Sunday Lunch in Herefordshire. Safe to say when it arrived, it surpassed all expectations. Two gents had the ultimate with all the meat, one special and one gluten free turkey that came with a GF yorkshire pudding and gravy! The veg then came out separately and I even got my own separate Gluten Free cheesy leeks. We didn't even know we needed cheesy leeks in our lives! Everyone was so impressed that even our full bellies tempted us for dessert. The portion sizes were commendable. The cheesecake described as fluffy like clouds, an incredible sticky toffee pudding, a lovely GF chocolate and black forest brownie and one banoffee pie later, we were full to the brim and ready for a nap. What started off as a slightly concerned visit that there wouldn't be any Gluten free meals or tables available soon turned out to be an incredible meal that surpassed all expectations and made everyone's day. Some great ciders and friendly service all added to the experience. A hidden gem that we just happened to stumble across - thanks to the Moon!More
The landlord the landlady and all the staff at this establishment are a well oiled machine. Happy smiling faces from everyone whilst running a very efficient operation. All the food was excellent from start to finish and they even fitted us in without a booking...which was really good of them considering we arrived at a busy period. They have a caravan/motorhome field at the back of the inn and the landlord allowed us to park there in our motorhome out of the way so we could go in and get a meal. We recommend this place to singles couples and families alike. Lovely outside area with parasols too. The best pub food and service we have had for years. Thanks again the motorhome couple.More
