This place was so odd and so unusual. A step back in time, food was excellent. The full English was a must have, so don’t skip it. The evening meal was excellent. The room was small, but had everything that I needed. Becoming a fan...More
The place is a treasure and updates were appreciated. Would have given 5 stars, but service has deteriorated since our last visit. Breakfast often ran out of croissants and some jams, and the fruit plate was meager and picked over. Housekeeping entirely forgot to do...More
A corner block and the roads and utilities directly across from the WA are under construction. So buyer beware. I should have followed up. But know that for probably a while, weeks still, there will be noise and inconvenience as building renovations take place. No...More
For anyone visiting Winchester, this is the perfect location for your visit. It is within minutes of the Cathedral and river.

5 of us enjoyed an evening at this excellent hostelry. The surroundings are surreal, the staff superb, the food tasty but the portion sizes were nouveau cuisine in the extreme, far to small. We went away hungry. What a shame!

From the pub, on the road travelling away from the city towards Winchester College, you can park there free for a limited time. One hour free about 500 yards away, 2 hours free from about half a mile away. There is closer on-street free parking but it is usually full.
