My wife and I visited on a Tuesday evening. We both had a duck salad starter, which was delicious and a very generous portion. The numerous pieces of duck were accompanied by watercress and chopped celery, with a pleasant dressing. A top-quality Awatere Valley Marlborough...More

Went to The Old Vine for lunch and sat outside in the courtyard. They have an 'order at the bar' style service which is absolutely fine however I feel that when our meals came out we should've received a check back mid way through. The...More

After a wander around the Cathedral an Ale and Sausage roll beckoned ... we were not disappointed! We visited at around 3pm, midweek during the Summer holidays. We were immediately greeted by one of the bar staff who made us feel welcome. There were plenty...More

Visited here on Tuesday evening with a large group (14). Very accommodating, all good came out together and piping hot. Had the burger with avocado and it was delicious and good value for a 'nice' pub/restaurant. Highly recommended

Plenty to choose from on the Menue plus a few specials which change daily . WE chose typical pub grub - Scampi 🍤 and chips 🍟. Nicely served , good Waiter Service .

We had another great evening in this excellent restaurant. The only time we have been disappointed is when we haven't been able to get in as it was too crowded. Even on a weeknight, I advise booking a table: last evening, there were only perhaps...More

Overlooking the Cathedral this Pub is in a pleasant position, it is beautifully appointed inside. We sat outside at the front as we have dogs and ordered from the Lunch menu, not many choices, which is sometimes a good thing. We both opted for the...More

Was looking forward to a Cream Tea with my family. The scones tasted ok, but were probably the smallest scones I have ever seen. (Sorry forgot to take a photo) Sadly the staff didn't manage to serve the tea with the scones, it came about...More

Sorry you were disappointed. The scones seem a pretty standard size, to be honest. We do have an option to purchase additional scones at 50p each. Apologies for the late arrival of the tea, it looks like it slipped someone's mind. Did you prompt the...More

I didn't have my dog with me but they are very friendly. It's great for lunch but gets very busy so I think it's your call as to whether your dog is well behaved in a crowd.
