The cafe was quiet but we still had to wait at least 15 minutes for two soups. We also ordered two pots of tea but this was only warm when we got it, if you wanted milk in it then it was quite cold. Another family in the cafe kept sending things back too. Not the best cafe experience we've... More

Rubbish service, the girl taking orders had no idea what she was doing. Coffee machine not working properly, husband had a rather cheap tasting coffee. Waited for ages for a simple crumpet, which was not toasted properly!! Returned it to a un-friendly waiter to and waited another 20 minutes for another in its place. The looks from this waiter seemed... More

We walked through the open front door at 0945am to be given a blank look by a young member of staff, they called "Grandad" who appeared from the kitchen to promptly inform us that they were not open yet... We were then ushered out of the establishment....

We popped in for lunch during our visit to the Royal Marines Museum. We had a baguette, a toasted sandwich, a portion of chips and two lovely mugs of proper tea. I was amazed at how reasonable the total price was. Added to that, the food is freshly prepared to order. Other establishments could learn a thing or two from... More

We both had a lovely sandwich and a pot of tea and it was a bargain compared to other places we had experienced. It is set within the barracks which is a lovely setting. The staff were friendly and efficient.

Food is all frozen and prepared in a microwave or deep fat fryer. Staff are all young and inexperienced and the owner is a bit weird and seems quite rude to staff. Dated furnishings and too much on the menu. Nothing special and won't be returning, A wasted opportunity in a stunning location

Lovely food and lunchboxes all prepared fresh to order and sensibly priced. Recommended. Not inside the museum so can be visited independently.

We came across this nostalgic place but when we arrived at the cafe there wasn't much left. We did manage a cream scone and Eccles cake. However due to the heat our outside table was accompanied by an army of ants. It was still ok to visit and the lads were very friendly. The shop was interesting too.

This cafe is part of the Royal Marines Museum on the Esplanade in Southsea. It is laid out as a kitchen, with pictures of the Marines dating from 1902 on the walls Tables large and small, all covered in green plasic cloths. Sounds bad but, take my word for it, the Kitchen is not tacky or grubby or yucky, it... More
