Whislt walking part of the Cotswold Way we called in here for a drink and a bag of crisps. We were pleasantly suprised to find a number of draught ales as well as the usual keg ales. Whilst we did not have anyting to eat the food we did see brought out looked very good and plentiful. The decor is... More

Very helpful Manager . We wanted to book for 7.30 and the Pub was full , so I said we'd take 8.30 and then he said he could juggle the tables and said we could go at 7.30 . There is a nice atmosphere in the Pub , Staff nice and the food is great .

We were staying in Painswick and went for dinner. The problem was we didn't get what we ordered, a first for me! So, I ordered the lamb at 19.50 and it came with a whole rare lambs kidney (which I can eat but many couldn't) a tiny portion of lamb and not the sauce detailed on the menu. My husband... More

Lovely pub, and really nice food. But the service was very slow, we waited 45 minuets for starters and 15 for our initial drinks. Even so i would not be put off. The staff were lovely if just a little short and the food was worth the wait.

We had booked, thankfully, as the pub was very busy. The service was slightly hit and miss, but very pleasant overall. There was confusion over whether mains came with veg or not: the waitress seemed unsure. The food when it arrived was tasty and enjoyable, especially the roast beef dinner. Vegetables were on the definitely crunchy side (i.e. undercooked, in... More

Having eaten here with my wife on three evenings last week, I'm afraid our experience doesn't echo other recent reviews. We had 6 different main courses between us and of those, 3 were mediocre. 2 were less than mediocre and 1 was awful. We also chose a cheese board for dessert one evening. The menu promised 4 specific English cheeses,... More

Having been here several times I was very disappointed with both the service and the main meal. The waitress who took our meal order must have been badly trained, she did not know what the specials came with said they came with veg ( they didn't) in fact they didn't come with either chips or potatoes which we ended up... Great atmosphere in this very English pub/ restaurant. Very good food with a lot of imagination and considerable flair, although such is is the popularity of the Falcon, the kitchen seems to be a bit stretched. Excellent selection of ales and wines plus a very menu - worth enjoying.

Having just finished a three day Yoga Retreat nearby, we were in need of proper sustenance! After a shared starter of perfectly cooked calamari - very difficult to get just right - Pippa enjoyed a great burger and I rejoiced in one of the best steak and ale (in this case Guinness) pie and chips I've ever had. Lovely old... More
