I guess we are almost regulars at the George Grill visiting 4 or 5 times a year. Yesterday (9/12/17) we visited as it was the Christmas Festival in Rye. At the George our table was ready and the service was attentive. Our main course arrived...More

We ate in the George Grill while staying in the hotel but was glad we did. Loved the decorations and the atmosphere was warm and cosy. I had the lobster which was amazing. Will be returning for that alone! Staff are knowledgeable and friendly, is...More

After some cocktails in the bar (lovely and cosy!) we had dinner in the Grill. We shared a delicious starter of the terrine - you never get enough bread with a terrine or pate do you! I had never had lobster before so tried the...More

Food lacking flavour and any noticeable effort. Rude, indifferent staff only came alight when it came time to pay. What a surprise. I think that is what this place has become - a cash cow for the owners.

Table reserved to find a mother and her two daughters had taken it upon themselves to take the reservation. The Managers excuse is they had double booked until I pointed out their computer clearly showed it was a single reserved booking - after some protestation...More

food not quite as good as I hoped. Liked the large layout and menu was interesting. Maybe an unlucky choice.

A fabulous wine list is the best thing about The George - really superlative. The main dishes are quite varied but the entrees could do with more non-fish items. Steak dishes are well presented but I would say that the 10Oz Rib Eye that I...More

Description
The George Grill and our bar, The George Tap, are temples of all day dining, serving a modern European menu with a sunny, Mediterranean slant. At the heart of the kitchen is a Josper wood-charcoal grill, where our kitchen team, led by Robert Wright fast-cook seafood just caught from Rye Bay, local meats and vegetables. The George Tap offers a large range of wine by the glass, including those from vineyards in East Sussex and Kent.
