If you're going to eat here, it's worth pushing the boat out. We had the Chateaubriand steak and whole lobster to share. At £69 for two, it's not cheap, but you know you're going to be spending a bit anyway....why not? A slight criticism is that our lobster tail was slightly over-spiced, but I'm sure that was an "on-the-night" situation... More

We visited The George Grill today for drinks and lunch. The bar staff were incredibly rude when they told us they were already fully booked. I don't know how they can treat customers this way. We promptly drank our drinks and left. Would not recommend.

First time diner was nice and quickly served. I had the vegetarian mezze. The dessert was wonderful: fig pie with mascarpone. Second time lunch took way too long to be served. Even though we ordered one day in advance for our group. The artichoke and eggplant was nice but not enough filling.

Came here with a group of friends to have a drink and a meal. Sadly the place was fully booked. The place is stunning with lots of care and attention given to the menu and surroundings. Only ended up with a drink at the bar which we had in a very comfortable seating area at the front of the building.... More

I often visit the George Hotel and enjoy a coffee with a biscuit in the bar. However when I visited today I was rudely told by the bar man that no biscuits were available with coffee today. No explanation was given. I found his attitude unfriendly, rude and condescending. I am amazed that a hotel that describes itself as a... More

I have eaten here several times in the past, enjoying both bar food and the Restaurant.Though not being by any means Michelin starred food ,it has previously been Ok ,as has the service. In Rye with a couple of chums,I recommended we pop in for a quick bite and drink. We perused the Menu and decided on Bar food, mainly due to... More

A lovely selection of local seafood and lamb, beautifully cooked. A very laid-back atmosphere. There's wide range of wines and we were well provided with their own bottled sparkling water. My vegetarian daughter had the meze which was more than she could manage.

My husband and I have been to Rye on numerous occasions but never in the evening so having looked at various menus for dinner, we decided upon the George. The only table we could get was at 9.15pm. Arriving a bit early we had drinks at the bar which had a nice ambience. We were lead to our table at... More

The food is quite good but we thought it was just a little expensive. The second night we skipped the starters which made it a better deal. The wines are very good. We preferred the atmosphere and ambience in the bar to the main dining room.

Description
The George Grill and our bar, The George Tap, are temples of all day dining, serving a modern European menu with a sunny, Mediterranean slant.

At the heart of the kitchen is a Josper wood-charcoal grill, where our kitchen team, led by Robert Wright fast-cook seafood just caught from Rye Bay, local meats and vegetables.

The George Tap offers a large range of wine by the glass, including those from vineyards in East Sussex and Kent.
