A perfect couple of nights in Rye - stay at Jeakes House, eat at Webbe's Fish and, next night, at Landgate Bistro. There was a pre-wedding group there when we arrived, so the restaurant close to full, but the service was great, the food delicious, and cooking of really high quality. Lucky Ryers, having such quality at hand!

I live near Rye and took my husband here for his birthday and hadn't been here before. But we will be going back. Greeted by a very polite waiter who could've been the owner - the menu was different but creative. The food was lovely we had starter, main and dessert and nothing went back - delicious.

The restaurant is small and feels just a little cramped but very stylish. The staff were generally excellent. Helpful yet unobtrusive and knowledgeable about the dishes. A little slow to bring bread. Menu had reasonable amount of choice but many dishes are quite unusual (squirrel or cuttlefish ) so if you like more conventional dishes the choice is limited. Everything... More

Visited Sat 29th Oct. We had booked, nice warm welcome and great service throughout. I eat out quite a lot and this is one of the best meals I have had this year, Michelin starred restaurants included. Cuttlefish risotto was rich and fantastic. Mains of lamb and venison both perfectly cooked. Cheese selection was great and deserts were delicious. The... More

We ate here on a Friday evening. We booked, although we needn't have as it wasn't busy. Don't be put off by it's location and how it looks from the outside. The food though was very good with a good selection and really had a trouble deciding what to choose as it was all so tempting. When it came out... More

We ate an evening meal there, whilst in Rye. This is really good fine eating without any fuss. We had (between us) mint and pea sourp and lamb shank, and mushroom served with toast and guinea fowl. The bistro was clean and modern, the service was good and not intrusive, the food was fabulous and the wine was very good... More

Such a warm Welcome from the new manager. We had scallops, fish cakes, marsh lamb, cheesecake and raspberry creme brûlée and all were sublime, as good a quality as a Michelin star restaurant and not at all pretentious or silly small portions! Some reviews I read said it was pricey but we had 3 courses and wine for two for... More

We visited this weekend for about the tenth time. Food was spectacular again. My wife and I both had the venison carpaccio and the lamb cooked three ways. Great cooking and a lovely cheese board to follow. A nice bottle of Chilean sauvignon blanc washed it down nicely. £40 a head with anice tip. Great quality, great price and nice... More

We tried the Landgate Bistro for Saturday lunch in early October after some online research. We were able to find parking at a nearby carpark. The street the restaurant is located on isn't the prettiest, but is within very easy walking distance of the historic centre. There were two other tables occupied. Service was mostly good. A nice welcome, and... More

5 old friends visiting Rye for the weekend to catch up. This dinner was a highlight - the staff were fabulous, great ambience and the food was divine! I had the lamb which was prepared 3 ways on the plate. We had the table in the front window which was separate from the rest of the restaurant and made it... More
