There have been several changes in management in recent years. It seems the current team have finally got it right. Recently decorated. Clean throughout. Fantastic beer garden. Very good selection of beers at a cheaper price than some other pubs in the area. The difference is the quality of the beer. Very friendly staff. The menu is basic, but has... More

As a large hiking group, over the last year we've visited the King's Head on a number of occasions and always have been given a warm welcome by the wonderful staff; in fact they go out of their way to get the open fire stocked up for us so we can warm up on the colder hiking days. The last... More

Stopped over for some refreshments after a walk in south down hills . Loved the place , the staff particularly were energetic and served our large group very well. Loved the ambience .

I am gluten free and don't eat meat so there wasn't much choice other than a jacket potato, which sounds boring but it was well cooked and came with a delicious home made coleslaw

Clearly new management appear to be working hard to update this previously charming pub, but it is now so very brightly lit with white spotlights so if you are looking for a cosy intimate evening you might need to choose elsewhere. They have chosen to install a TV screen. Again, I guess it depends on your taste.

We were delighted with our meals chosen from the specials board, my partner had a huge venison steak with port jus, handcut chips and vine tomatoes while I enjoyed mullet with beetroot and generous helpings of broccoli and new potatoes. Two interesting icecreams on offer, - garlic and rosemary (I just wasn't brave enough) but the caramel and thyme was... More

Lewes is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe and Lewes is an enduring favourite for me. The Kings Head has had new management at increasing frequency. The present new owners have spent much money and energy on trying to improve the business, I admire their enthusiasm, so it saddens me to see elementary mistakes being made on decor,... More

Both of our roasts were served cold. We asked or them to be warmed up. They came back maybe 2 degrees warmer. Not acceptable. Will not visit again.

I saw a review of Kings Head in a freebie magazine in Brighton. It sounded interesting so I stuck the article to the fridge for a year as a reminder and finally got round to going. Importantly for us they are dog friendly and they offered the dog some water without being asked, which is always welcome. We don't have... More

As part of my Lewes trip I popped into the King's Head for a pint of Harvey's. As you'd hope, the beer was in good condition (it's only brewed a quarter of a mile away) but the landlady made a point of coming up to say hello, in a non-intrusive way. She was happy to show me around and talk... More
