I paid £7.95 for what you see in the photo. Hugely disappointed and dissatisfied, extremely bad value for money. Looked and tasted exactly like the Tesco sushi they sell for around £3.50. Not fresh, no flavour, tiny portion. Will not be visiting again! Do not waste your money here!

I have been there for a cosy intimate dinner and was the worst choice ever...an offence to Japanese cuisine and an outrage to Asian restaurant in general. The service was slow, the food cold and the portion ridiculously small! For a starter you need to wait over half an hour and the quality was mediocre, we had tempura fish that... More

My partner and I waited for our meals for a very long time even though we were the only customers in the restaurant, and each roll arrived by itself which was frustrating. I was very surprised when all the sushi rolls came with wasabi inside them and not just on the side (never came across this kind of serving in... More

Second time here and I loved it again. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Brighton, also has a lovely bar upstairs too. I will be back soon.

Wonderful meal served at a decent speed to allow the food flavors to shine. My meal was soup and Bento, plus tea. Beautiful simple Japanese style an a wonderful building and surroundings, away from the noise of modern day life. Time to think and relax. A Zen experience. Gerry

Noticed a balcony on the first floor so popped in for a cocktail after a meal close by. Small but cosy bar, nicely atmospheric. You will find an interesting cocktail menu, some I believe exclusive to the bar staff. We were very impressed, prices were fair too. Definitely worth a visit if you want a change from a busy pub... I didn't have time to collect a sushi at Victoria, so I decided to go via Oki-Nami once I had got back to Brighton. I had to fight my way through the Gay Pride crowd both on the way in & way out, but it was worth it! The sushi was superb, all the staff extremely courteous. Even the sushi... More

This is an accessible and friendly Japanese restaurant that spans a number of styles (sushi/bento) and both build-your-own options and western-style 2 or 3 course 'settings'. Saki list is interesting plus there are Japanese wines , shochu and soft drinks from Japan. The restaurant is bright, clean and modern - more cafeteria than a slice of Japan - but a... More

Description
This classically kooky, Tokyo-esque Japanese restaurant and delicatessen on the New Road in Brighton is the brainchild of acclaimed chef Mike Dodd and DJ Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim. With a minimialist, contemporary interior featuring handmade oak furniture, caliigraphy clad lanterns and an exclusive soundtrack tailor made by Cook, Oki-Nami has become a hit with local sushi connoisseurs, hipsters and Japanophiles. Located near the Theatre Royal opposite the Pavillion Gardens, Oki-Nami restaurant is renowned for its award-winning sushi; Japanese tapas; main courses such as the Suzuki Saffron sea bass served with a citrus sauce; desserts including the restaurant's famous green tea ice cream; and east-meets-west cocktails such as the Japanese Cherry Blossom Margarita.
