After the 'Burning of the Clocks' parade we went to Northern Lights for a shot of flavoured vodka (always a favourite of ours), but also ventured to eat there for a change as I'd read some very good reviews of the food. We were more than pleasantly surprised. The food being excellent (and I don't use that word often!). I... More

Yes it's true! Vegan Scandinavian food, good beer and a cool little bar to boot. I know Brighton is full of many many vegan choices but this one really caught me out. I definitely wasn't expecting anything other than chips at the best and fresh air at the worst. Keep it up guys you are doing I right.

Visited the pub on a Friday and all I can say is my wife won’t be going back as she only drinks wine and they don’t have any wine glass’s only tumblers, and the wine was awful, so supped up and went the girls only had 1 mouthful of wine and that was enough. The pub itself is fine, and... More

Visiting Brighton with friends for work and came across this great place when looking for somewhere cosy for dinner and drinks. They sell the most amazing glogg, which warmed us up on a cold night! The Scandinavian menu had great choices and was excellent value for money. Would definitely visit again!

We chose this place for it's unusual cuisine and drinks. It looks more like a bar but the food was better than you find in many restaurants!! We had a fish platter and salmon on top of a vegetable rosti. We tried some of the numerous Nordic vodkas on offer. They are flavoured but far superior to the novelty flavours... More

Went here with group of friends. Ordered a "Kulture Burger" and chips. My, what a dis organised rabble we have here. OK, I know it was a busy night, but we waited nearly an hour for our food to arrive. Bar staff were very friendly and gave us some free shots by way of apology, but tbh, it tasted like... More

We stopped at Northern Lights for an early dinner and a couple of beers. First off, being a bit of a beer fan I was excited by the selection of Scandinavian beers on offer. Shed Head by Backyward Brewery on tap (as well as Tuborg) and some great bottles and cans as well (try the Betty Brown, a brown ale... More

Have been here for drinks a couple of times and really liked the ambience with good music and friendly bar staff. This time we tried the food and the meatballs were really delicious. It was a limited menu as it was Pride but we now can't wait to go back to try the normal menu. Bar staff very knowledgable and... More

This meal was absolutely amazing and so tasty. It was reasonably priced, and I really really enjoyed it. I am definitely going back to this pub for another meal real soon. Thanks so much!

Scandinavian bar/restaurant

Northern Lights is a one of a kind independent Scandinavian bar and restaurant in Brighton!

We serve delicious, filling, home-made Scandinavian dishes courtesy of Kitchen Kultur; from Swedish meatballs to flæsk (crispy pork belly), to roots fritters and falafel alongside a tasty range of burgers and light bites, we've got you covered! Look out for our special Sunday lunch menu too!

Even the bread is baked right here :-)

On the drinks menu you'll discover unique flavours in the form of fisherman's friend, licorice, mint and pine tar shots in addition to two dozen flavoured vodkas! We also have a wide range of exotic Scandinavian ciders, beers, herbals teas and coffees. All of our wine, save for one, is vegan.

Upstairs we have a FREE function room for birthdays, weddings and other dining get togethers!

For creative people, we also offer the upstairs as a free venue in which to hold exhibitions (photography, paintings, graphic design, miscellaneous...) simply ask at the bar or message us if you're interested!
