Stopped by on Saturday and went here for a drink. It was Brighton Festival so they had a very loud band on at 6pm and the place was rammed. As such it was hard to relax and enjoy the pub. Would go back to see what it's like when a 'normal' pub instead of packed to the rafters.

Sometimes I walk past and this place has some terrible music (either on Friday or Saturday) but usually its a great pub with cool people, good atmosphere, friendly staff and good live music

They refused me entry although I said I was not drunk and they refused to do a breathaliser test, so I had to wait 20 minutes for my friends to come out, and after speaking to bouncer who refused entry for no reason and refused to give me his name or detail Do not recommended this pub saw eecbgmkf

Dined here on a busy Saturday lunch time and the fish and chips was a good choice. Fish very fresh and proper chips Had to wait for our food as it was busy, but we were told before we ordered, so it was not a problem. Good selection of beers and wines as well. Will visit again when in the... More

My friends and I have have been going regularly to the Black Lion for about 7 years. I've always recommended the pub to others, raving about the great food and friendly staff but this time I'd say the complete opposite. The food was bland and we needed to return my friends rosti which was burnt and wafer thin; certainly not... More

We met up here for lunch to prep for a customer meeting. At first, we sat outside which was really nice (in the sun) - but as soon as the sun went behind the building it got cold, so we went inside. Boy, what a different athmosphere! Extremely grungy tabletop (didn't want to touch it, really) and an interor that... More

I was with my son and partner and we were struggling to find somewhere to eat that appeared child friendly, then we saw the children's menu on the tables out the front, so we went in. The inside has a nice atmosphere, different from how it looks outside. Staff were very friendly and pleasant. The food was delicious.

The best burger ever. It's also a really cool place, well decorated. Perfect if you're in Brighton with friends.

Was looking for somewhere for two to eat just easily for lunch and this was in a row with another pub, a Jamie's, a Thai place and some others, so just chanced it based on scoring over 4 and a few tempting menu items. The outside looked like a bit of a standard crappy seaside pub but gave no clue... More
