Meat was cooked to a wonderful standard, but could do with more vegetables and larger portions in general. Poor dessert menu.

Popped into Plateau as a pre dinner stop for a drink and stumbled across a gem. Great menu of Natural wines (which we hadn't had tried before) and craft beers, most of which are locally sourced. They also do coffee, liqueurs etc Great atmosphere and a really good selection of tapas style foods and I think some bigger dishes; although... More

Or maybe better to be described as "pub atmosphere " rather than restaurant. The menu is quite limited. Pickled hake was fine but the duck fried thing was super rich and nothing acidic to balance it which was a shame. The best part is the red cabbage ketchup.

After my visit at Plateau I was left very happy and satisfied, having dinner there is a very nice experience. Staff is very friendly and professional and the food....just amazing!! The combination of textures and flavours in the dishes is balsam for the soul!! (And for everyone with a sweet tooth I have to say to keep some space left... More

Relaxed atmosphere with good food. What really makes this place a winner is the very well sourced wine list full of unusual and inexpensive offerings of excellent quality. The staff have a good knowledge of their wine and are enthusiastic.

Been here many times. This time went with ten friends. Brought a cake for a birthday - was charged £35 to have it served on plates - no accompaniments. Rude email when I complained with various passive aggressive comments. Needs to learn some manners.

We stumbled upon this little bistro while looking for a light lunch. It had a lovely atmosphere and friendly helpful staff.the menu was that bit different and allowed for small plate type snacking. The duck arancini balls were full of flavour. The 3 glass carafe of wine was just the right amount. The wine list is excellent and organic. Well... More

Visited Plateau on a short trip to Brighton as it seemed a bit different. We loved everything about this place. The atmosphere is what you would imagine in a cosy French bistro, comfy and intimate seating that is close together but still very private. It has a lovely chilled vibe and there was no 'rush' to the place. The staff... More

We stopped here for a drink. Two margarita's. That was at 7pm. At 1am we stumbled out. The wine was delicious and all organic. The staff were so helpful and welcoming and even without a booking in a busy restaurant did all they could to accommodate us. The platters with beef cheeks and duck breast and pork belly was off... Description
Independent bar à vin, restaurant & cocktail bar based in The Lanes, BrightonWe are a unique bar à vin & restaurant with a passion for great food & wine. We have put a great deal of time & love into selecting our wines. At Plateau you can discover interesting & affordable wines that you are unlikely to see on other local wine lists. Our selection is mostly natural with some biodynamic & organic examples. We have sourced wines from local Sussex producers to renowned names & newcomers. To soak up the wine we serve ‘bites’, small dishes perfect to share or great as a starter. Follow your ‘bites’ with a ‘plateau’ to share or a 'plat' & that’s our dinner experience… although don’t forget dessert! Our chefs source organic, fresh, local produce as much as possible.Did we mention the cocktails? They’re probably the best in town & although we don’t serve Carlsberg we do serve some pretty imaginative beers from around the world. We have some top quality spirits, including some rare rum, whisky & cognac…and I almost forgot, keep an eye out for the ‘cocktail de la semaine’ & ‘beer of the moment’.There is no set way to visit Plateau, you can match the wine to the food or the food to the wine. Pop in just for a drink, a few bites or a three-course meal – the idea is that you do whatever suits you.
