If your choice is fish, this is the place (yes, plaice, if you prefer!). A sound range of starters available and, it would seem, absolutely any fish you can readily think of. My Dover Sole (off the bone, as requested) was perfect! The sweets available are quite adventurous for Brighton (possibly as a result of the restaurant owners background) and... More

We came here for lunch on a quiet Monday before going on the i360 and had an excellent lunch. We shared the mixed grilled and fried fish and a whole dressed crab salad - my mum is very partial to dressed crab and a bit of a connoisseur. This one was delicious - beautiful,y presented with two big claws on... More

Had a nice lunch in here yesterday before going on the BA i360. Delicious cooked food, good service and in all a good lunch. Only thing - Kids meals could be improved ie. pasta and not the usual with chips etc. Would come again.. Maybe in you can do sandwiches?

We always visit the Melrose when in Brighton and are never disappointed. Unfussy but very fresh fish. Perfect

Such a lovely welcome. Attentive staff. Menu is reliable, excellent quality. Today, a gorgeous starter of mussels followed by excellent quality steak and Greek salad (for the price). Friends with me also had avocado and prawns starter. Mainly enjoyed the Sunday roast but massively liked the scallops wrapped in bacon. Wine list of a very superior quality (again for the... More

We visited by chance as the Regency next door seemed a little chaotic. The staff were attentive and polite, the menu was a little retro "70's posh restaurant" but we loved that. The fish served was excellent the wine properly chilled. The decor is somewhat dated but it is clean and in good order. All in all a very pleasant... More

I visited this restaurant several times when I first moved to Brighton, during the summer, you can enjoy the sunshine whilst eating some delicious fish. The waiters are very friendly and the food is consistently good and better value than in the lanes. I recommend the Dover Sole for £18.50. The Chablis is very good too!
