What a quaint tea room with great decor and props to authneticate recent past jogging memories of fantastic games and books I had as a child. Great tea and scrummy cakes.

Quaint neat and clean tea shop. Very pleased that there was a fire on as it was a very damp and cold day. We were indecisive as to what to choose, we ordered coffee whilst reading the menu. The Americano coffee taken with cream was hot and fresh, it was the best quality cup of coffee I have drunk for... More

Alfriston is the prettiest of villages in the Cuckmere valley and this tea house serves it well. The gooseberry and Elderflower sponge is delicious and everything was well presented and served quickly. Contrary to some negative reviews I found the staff very friendly- however it seems that the menu is not at all negotiable which is a shame as you... More

Tucked away in the village, this quaint traditional tea house is a lovely place to escape to when able. They serve great cream teas and scones in a friendly and comfortable atmosphere.

we went in here for a cream tea and it's just beautiful, you can park 2 mins walk away and sit in by the fire, cream tea with 2 scones and a pot of tea was £7 all served in such beautiful silver pots with bone china cups, it was really lovely!!

Couldn't resist this place when we saw it with friends and it exceeded our expectations. Delicious tea & cake, lovely atmosphere & the owners/hosts were fabulous. It was such a pleasure to get to know them that we couldn't resist to go back for lunch the next day. Go to this place not to sit in silence but make friends.... More

Very nice little coffee shop, staff very pleasant and helpful, cakes were delicious and very light. If we had one small issue it was that the tables were very cramped and the people next to me were continuously banging my chair but other than that, a nice visit and will definitely go back.

There should me more places like Badgers in the UK. Great food, excellent tea and coffee and professional service. The tea room is well layout with plenty of character. There is a tea garden which would eb fantastic in the summer time. Don't miss this one. An excellent find.

Even though breakfast was included in the price in our hotel, we came here instead... so friendly, so good! Avocado and sourdough with poached egg... amazing, good coffees, such a cosy atmosphere too!

Thank Marshall B

Welcome to our historic tea house! Alfriston was granted its market charter in 1406, and the house at Badgers dates from 1510 – over 500 years old! We know it was the village bakery for 200 years until 1933, and proprietor Michael Luttig and manager Lynn Attfield continue the tradition of exceptional baking on the premises. “Dissenters” from St Andrews Church met here in the late 18th Century until they built their own independent church (now the United Reformed Church) in 1801. We even have a Standing Stone in the pavement outside the front door…
