If you’re trying to lose weight and money you’ll love this place. The price for food is high and the portion sizes will have you losing weight in no time. We were very disappointed in the size of the food on our plates. My partner...had so little salad it was a joke. We ate our food and moved on. We believe the owner is delusional and believes he’s running a Michelin star high class restaurant what with the prices to portion sizes. We won’t be back.More

We visited today for lunch .. on arrival we were not told we would have a long wait for food .. we were given a table for 2 by the door. Firstly high praise for the young people staffing Woods they were excellent. They were...well mannered. Very helpful and smiley. 10 out of 10 Sadly it’s not what we could say about the manager. His authoritative approach to speaking to both the staff and the customers we found unpleasant and overbearing. He was issuing orders to the staff very loudly which was intrusive to visitors, We waited 40 minutes for our food and enquired 3 times when we could expect our meal to arrive. We were not aware of the long wait and of course it’s height of summer but we should have been made aware before we sat down. The manager came to explain 25 mins after placing our order and we’re spoken to in a dismissive tone … no discussion welcomed and we both felt shouted at. He suggested we have it as a takeaway !!! Not our plan. We had a very short time to eat our food due to parking restrictions. However the food was not great. The Burger had a very strange taste,it was unpleasant and had a strange texture I feel sorry for the staff who were all lovely. If we had been approached in a different way we may have come out feeling different. We definitely won’t go again.More

We are regular visitors to Totnes but hadn’t yet made it into into this establishment. To start, I can’t fault the food we had. Very good and well presented. Sat outside, lovely garden. Prices fine, selection of food and drink good. But, am really sorry...but downside was the gentleman who was running the show. His staff were working hard and doing what he ‘told’ them to do. After being greeted by a nice young lady, she said we could sit inside or out, we said out, and we’re invited to go through and then to place order at counter. Which we did, and sat at the only table free in the garden. After I ordered and sat back down, the gentleman came and ‘told’ us he needed to, not asked us to, move to a table for 2 (which had become available after we had been seated) as he had 4 people for our table (there were 4 chairs) we didn’t really have a say and had to move. During our stay we saw the gentleman dishing out firm instructions audible to guests, to his staff. We thought this was going to be a relaxing visit but the atmosphere caused by the gentleman made it unfriendly. He didn’t make eye contact at any time and when upon leaving, as I’m polite, I said thank you at the counter, he didn’t even look up, but did say thank you. His stress was visible to all and not really welcomed when we are spending money and hoping for a relaxing time. Will I go here again? Probably not now I’m sad to say, as we like to take time to support all the Totnes businesses. Customers don’t expect, or want to see management stress on the shop floor. This cafe was quaint and had a lovely little garden area where we sat to eat our food. It was a shame because it did rain whilst we were eating outside, but when sunny I can imagine that area is wonderful. My partner and I...had Devonshire cream tea's, mine was a sweet cream tea and my partner had a savoury one. I thought it was such a great idea! The savoury cream tea was served with your choice of cheese and a cheese scone instead of a sweet one. I would recommend this cafe if you are looking for a quick lunch in the Totnes area.More

We went to Totnes on a whim and were pleasantly surprised at how quirky the town is, very much to our taste. As we wandered around the shops we kept our eye open for somewhere to have lunch and happened across Woods. The menu was...very much up our street with a mixture of healthy options. We wanted to sit outside and on arrival there were no tables available. The owner offered to take our number and give us a call when a table became available which I thought was a nice gesture. As it happened someone got up to leave just as we were about to return to our shopping. Seated in the garden in the intermittent sunshine I had the falafel and hummus wrap and my partner had a cheddar and chilli chutney sandwich with a side order of sweet potato fries followed by lemon cake and Florentine flapjack which was really yummy. We chatted with the owner in the garden at length, he was very friendly and its obvious, like so many places currently, that they are suffering with staff recruitment and training. However the service we received was both pleasant, efficient and professional.More

Great food and great service. We enjoyed having breakfast here. Totally recommend the Superfood Breakfast Stack. Service was great, no problems.

Staff could not do enough for us to ensure a lovely meal. Food and atmosphere were great. We will definitely return.
