A very warm welcome even though we had not booked. The menu was extensive and once we had chosen the food when it arrived was excellent. Thoroughly recommend. Suggest booking as it was very busy even mid week. Will definitely return.

We came in without a reservation and were lucky to get a table for slightly over an hour. The service helped make this possible by putting our food on the fast track. The restaurant has a good wine selection (we had the Tempranillo/Le Petit Verdun) and many tapas as well as regular courses to choose from. We took tapas and... More

An excellent meal with great service and atmosphere. It all felt as close as you are ever likely get to a genuine Spanish tapas eatery in north Devon. The restaurant was full and people had to be turned away - so make sure you book, which can be done online. We tried the patatas braves, piri piri king prawns, meatballs,... More

Arrived without booking on a Sunday night, luckily the staff were very helpful and squeezed us in before booked clients. Tapas were excellent, try the anchovies with smoked tomato salsa! Main courses were sublime and the quality of food deserving of the awards received. Had a delicious Tempranillo Red which complimented our aubergine main and stuffed chicken breast. All food... A little disappointed. Food was just ok. Nothing spectacular. Way too much dressing on the potatoes, both of us said the same. We had a starter and a main. During the main we asked waitress for another bottle of wine. When it eventually did arrive at our table we had finished eating. So we no longer required it. Didn't bother... More

Turned up on spec mid-week, no problem with getting a table, very pleasant staff and very good service. The food was excellent, if a little limited in range, and the surroundings were very comfortable. Prices were modest and we had an very enjoyable evening.

Walked in without booking and was warmly greeted, had a superb meal and really enjoyed the professional service. A couple of suggestions from a dedicated foody, use unpitted olives on your olive taste plate and acquire a more robust olive oil with more flavor, these are not complaints just suggestions to create perfection. Hope to visit again one day.

It was March and The Oak was bravely open on a Monday night, unlike some of its neighbouring eateries. It did not disappoint. It is a tapas restaurant and although i did not know quite what i was ordering, as i have not had tapas before, i loved every single dish! Each one was freshly prepared and full of unusual... More
