We visited in the summer 2016 for an evening meal. Placed reservation as it gets very busy. Lovely food, huge portions, great atmosphere

The new owners have in the last 18 months improved the quality of evening meals here considerable while sustaining th quality of the pub's famous beers and even expanded the range of beers (all brewed downstairs). The quality of their food is excellent and their staff are all helpful and very friendly.

The food was exceptional and well beyond our expectations . All 7 of us were really impressed by our meals with one saying it was the best steak he had ever had (he had the Ribeye) . The staff really looked after us and were made very welcome . Will be back .

If there is a better place to eat in and around Exeter I have not found it. Great Pub serving lovely food and make their own beer! A great way to get there is by train from Exeter St. Davids . One stop £1.85 return. You have to speak to the guard and tell him you would like to alight... More

A new landlord took over the place about 12 months ago and it is even better than before. (The previous landlady was very efficient but could be abrupt at times). The food is excellent, and so is the beer. They now sell my girlfriends favourite cider!!(Devon Mist). You are guaranteed a friendly enthusiastic welcome.

Six of us went for a mid week meal in this pub. Very pleasantly surprised....traditional pub setting but fabulous menu and the food lived up to highest expectations!

We went here on a busy bonfire night. We had an extremely warm welcome and shown to our table by a friendly staff member. The pub itself is rustic, rural with its own micro brewery. The menu is great with vegetarian options different to those found in most pubs and the specials board was extensive. I had the lamb rump... More
