Sadly this place has seen more landlords than I have had breakfast - something to do with the brewery tie up? The last tenant was good, but battled to make it a success after a flood of poor tenants. Will it ever recover? I dont think so

We recently booked the pub function room for a small gathering. The manager was extremely accommodating, we could have our own entertainment and use the room as we wished. They were really eager to help out with anything we required. We opted for the buffet and could honestly say its the best buffet I have ever had. Not one single... More

With friends I visited the Royal Oak for the first time for food and it was brilliant, value for money (a tenner for a great roast and pud)... service was brilliant and the chef seemed genuinely concerned that his food was being well recieved ... a lovely afternoon at an underrated establishment

Booked for dinner with friends and got a mixed reaction from us. Our 2 friends had good food, one steak and one lamb shank. My wife's meal was average, and my meal, the salmon fillet, was very poor. The service was average but acceptable although we did have to put up with 2 young children constantly running up and down with... More

A really lovely Sunday roast, asked for more veg (as we eat a lot of it) no problems, service prompt and attentive, deserts were delicious too, definitely worth trying again and will go back.

Went for the special steak meal offer of steak and the trimmings and a desert for a tenner and we were impressed. Food was cooked well, service was also great. There is also an extensive menu for other options too.

My what a change, interesting menu, have eaten there now a couple of times, really struggled to eat it all. Excellent quality food, not overpriced, nice range of drinks. Cocktails not normally my tipple but for advertised price - well silly not to try. New owners doing their best to give the villagers back what has been missing for several... More

This pub/restaurant seems doomed. It re-opened in September 2015 but closed again at the beginning of August 2016. A notice in the window now says it is 'hiring', so I assume that someone else is going to attempt to make a go of it. Will they be successful when others have failed; we shall see in due course.

Thank rerp
