We always go back to the Balancing Eel when in St Ives. The food is well cooked and tasty - as well as being in huge portions. Staff are extremely friendly and the whole place is clean and welcoming.

Really tasty, fresh food served by friendly staff in great surroundings. We always eat here when we're at St Ives and it never disappoints. Cod and chips, hake with a vast and varied salad was quickly served, rattling up in the dumb waiter from the shop below.

Well we queued for a takeaway, and then waited quite a long time after we'd ordered. Understandably they were busy so it was something to put up with. Probably as it's close near the pub and main square that's the reason for it being busy. When we got the food back to the apartment which was less than 5 minutes away... More

Hidden away but well worth finding! Very friendly service. We had the seafood platter, mushy peas and a sausage - best fish and chips we've ever had. Generous portions and perfectly cooked. Great that you can bring your own drinks 👍🏻

Queued to get in on a sunny lunch time but wasn't too much of a wait. Ultra friendly and reasonable in price. Food was scrumptious. Would visit again! Yum yum yum!

Have always enjoyed fish and chips here, and did believe it to be the best in St Ives. We had our usual cod and chips which cost £11 for two cod and we shared a portion of chips!! It was greasy as hell, but we wolfed it because we'd been on the beach all day, but really not good. The... More

Had a great dinner here. Chips were fantastic, but limited veggie options. They were out of haddock, but shows that they only use fresh, plus the fish cakes were nice. The waiter was great!

We had the best fish and chips from here. The fish tasted very fresh. The chips were lovely and you got a very good sized portion. The fish cakes were also very tasty and a good size. Staff very friendly. Great service
