My wife & I love seafood and find that, in the UK at least, in English seaside resorts the emphasis is solely on fish and chips often of questionable freshness and often very greasy. Years ago we found it impossible to find anything in restaurants but frozen fish in Brixham of all places!!! Things are improving and when we dropped... More

One of our favourite restaurants in St. Ives. Mussels are superb, as is the fillet steak. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. You definitely need to book during busy periods as this resturant gets very busy.

Quality service and quality food, both sea food and red meat, good friendly service and reasonable price for the setting. Pick your own fish/meat and they cook it how you want. Servings are big-ignore detrimental comments on portion size. Well positioned. Bustling vibe. Recommend booking.

Nice food but not impressed by having to queue at the bar to order in what is a actually quite a pricey restaurant. Waiting staff seemed bored and were over keen to get us out as soon as they'd taken away our plates! (Early evening too, they weren't waiting to go home!) Wouldn't go back as I feel it is... More

The fresh fish and meat counter as you enter the Seafood Cafe bodes well. Slightly complicated choosing your sauce, cooking method and sides at the counter, but quite novel. We chose the Megrin Sole. Perhaps it was the wrong choice - the fish was completely tasteless. A mango sauce was not good, mashed potato, and indeed all the dish, was... More

The simple setting doesn't speak immediately of the quality of cooking here. In the lunch setting there is a good menu, but you can also choose from the counter where fresh produce is displayed. Then add your choice of supporting carbs & sauce. We had one prawn dish and one of pork... both were well presented and had great flavour....... More

Evening visit for 5 of us. Very fresh fish, simply and well cooked with a choice of veg and sauces, lot set dishes ( crab linguine etc). All were very nice. Choices of wine (reasonably priced) beer cider and soft drinks. Only slight disappointment was that the carnivores dish (pork fillet) was a bit dry and unimaginative. Served him right... More

We had one dinner here when visiting St. Ives. It's a lively place, the staff is really friendly, and the food is very good. We were quite disappointed with the portion though... compared to other meals we had in Cornwall, our dinner for two felt like sharing a dinner for one...

Atmosphere: 4/5 Food: 4/5 Service: 2/5 Value for money: 3/5 Good food, nice atmosphere, but service really let it down, sadly I don't think our waitress wanted to be there that evening. Also very odd ordering system, I don't expect to order at the bar in a relatively pricey restaurant.

Thank Ross T
