Whenever I am in Looe this becomes my local. There are several other pubs in close proximity but there is something very welcoming about this one.

Fancied somewhere different so went to Ye Olde Salutation for the first time. A little quiet as it was near the end of lunch service. Asked if food was available and was told it was for a further 15 minutes. We ordered sandwiches which were swiftly served by a very friendly lady and were a little basic but very tasty.... More

We went for dinner on easter sunday for our anniversary as the pub had been highly recommended. It was nicely busy with a roaring fire and in a good location. My partner had the fish pie which was good, I opted for 2 starters together of breaded calamari and breaded garlic mushrooms but both were actually battered not breaded so... More

We didn't go in here until our last night, which is a pity as the ambience was lovely, a warm fire burning in the bar was just the ticket. An old fashione pub which does food. We didn't eat here as we had already booked somewhere, but wished we had when we saw the food coming out. It is pub... More

Decided to give this pub a second chance and was disappointed again. The food meets the trades descriptions act but has little appeal. I was glad I had a pint of fairly standard Doom Bar to wash down the dry chicken. It gets very crowded. Sometimes every third customer brings a dog - nothing against dogs - but I prefer... More

Can appreciate the old world charm of the place but almost a fiver for a lager, cramped tables and uninspiring food don't really cut the mustard. Ordered fish, chips and peas. Not many places do this for under a tenner down Cornwall way so fair credit to the establishment. Problem was the quality. Unheard of for me to leave half... More

The fire was very welcoming and gave a good warm glow to the eating area. I felt the service was rather lacklustre, the staff did not ask if the meal was OK. Actually the chicken Jalfrezi was over spiced, was extremely hot. The drinks were all very good. Our friends had fish and chips and had no complaints.

Solid old fashioned pub with original beams and a roaring fire, very welcome when it's cold outside. Didn't eat here but the food we saw looked very tasty with large portions. Good range of beers and friendly staff. Would recommend it if you're looking for a no-frills drink.
