Really friendly, really nice meal, loved my haggis. Not so much WW1 themed as genuine decor etc from that era. A must for good food and a quiet drink when in Chester.

Excellent beers - not a massive range but well kept. The interior of this pub is beautiful - dark wallpapers and dark wood remind you that this is a proper "old man's pub". They are fussy about who they let in so no hen/stag parties or large loud groups need apply but once you're in this is a tranquil and... More

This is a great pub to visit in Chester especially if you are interested in World War 1. We have been there several times and the staff are so friendly and make you feel so welcome. The food is also excellent but we didn,t have any thing to eat this time. Look foreword to going back there

Wonderful pub - like stepping back to a bygone era with authentic memorabilia. Great atmosphere, great beer and great food. Even better, no musak.

Visited the Albion with a group of mates on a Saturday evening. One of our number had local knowledge, and steered us off the main drag with its bright city lights, down a side street, and I'm so glad he did so. Others have commented on the chalk board warnings as you go in and the quirky 1940's décor, but... More

If you want to eat good old food, corn beef hash, liver and onions ect in a nice slightly quirky setting with friendly staff and open fire's it's worth stopping off here.

This is a wonderful town pub although the chalk boards hung around the entrance seem to suggest otherwise. There’s “No UHT milk, No music, No stag or hen parties, No ‘designer drinks or shots’ and No children” amongst quite a few other warnings. Despite all of this the Albion is a singularly friendly pub with a quietly relaxing atmosphere. The... More

The Albion is well worth a visit, but we felt the food was a little over-priced. For the amount we paid, we had expected two Staffordshire Oatcakes, but only received one. It was very tasty, as were the sandwiches, but we probably will look elsewhere for our next visit to Chester.

Excellent food, real ales served with a smile! One of the few 'original' pubs left in Chester. A must visit.

"A hidden gem" is a description I sometimes think twice about in reviews but this is so authentic that this description is fully deserved. This pub lies in easy reach of Chester centre, and lies alongside the famous Chester Walls. Even so, if you do not know it is there, you may easily miss it. I recommend that you take... More
