Really high-class dining in a stately hotel in the centre of Chester. Expensive of course, but the food, the setting and the service were all superb. A second Michelin star would not be inappropriate in fact.

Well Simon has beaten even his spectacular best. This season’s tasting menu is the best ever and that is saying something. Simply by far the best restaurant in Chester.

It may be 'old style', but it's none the worse for that. Service was formal, but friendly and perfectly paced. We loved the bread trolley. Food was spot on for 1 Michelin star, all good and sometimes stunning (as in our starters of duck ragout and pork haslet). We look forward to returning.

Chose the taster menu which we've had at quite a few other places and the 'dishes' were novel and delicious, really well put together, first class ingredients cooked to perfection. We also took the wine that goes with each dish and were pleased to see they offered the more temperate of us half the quantity for half the price. It... More

We stopped at the Grosvenor and as part of the ultimate dining weekend which included a meal here. I have to say we were a bit apprehensive about going as not used to this kind of thing. But have to say we had a wonderful time. The staff were excellent, very friendly and really put you at ease, whilst still... More

We ate at the Simon Radley whilst staying at the Grosvenor. The food, wines and service were impeccable. Having eaten at other Michelin starred restaurants this was by far our favourite. We cannot recommend it highly enough. This is most definitely a first class restaurant.

It was our 4th wedding anniversary and we heard of this restaurant so we decided to book. The gentleman that took the booking ( i think his name is Jamie) was very helpful on the phone asking if it was a special occasion. The table was booked for 8.00pm and i was told to come half hour before so could... More

Really fabulous, we had the taster menu & were looked after perfectly. Although the portions were small, we were given 2 choices of beautiful home made bread - after we had eaten it, our table was brushed clean of crumbs! It was our anniversary & they even made special chocolates for us wishing us happy anniversary :)

From start to finish, possibly the best meal ever, service professional and yet warm. Food excellent and savoured every mouthful, ok so there are no windows, but it's a wonderful comfortable place to eat a meal. Wines chosen with the sommelier to complement our meals were excellent. Have every intention of dining here again

I'll be brief. The restaurant is bunker-like without windows, the staff highly professional but without any warmth, and serving us in a rather perfunctory manner. It was all a bit 'sixties' Rather than sit down to lunch immediately on arrival, we elected to have an aperitif at the bar. Staff seemed a bit irked by this and had it not been... More

Description
Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor, has held a Michelin star for nineteen years running surely a record outside of London. Under the direction of Executive Chef Simon Radley the exceptional modern British menu changes seasonally and uses only the finest ingredients. The cellar is also renowned, having one thousand bins and a sommelier of prodigious knowledge. The dining room itself is as dashing as you would expect with comfy chairs, oriental carpets, fine woods, original artwork, ebony pillars and many-layered tones of gold and taupe. The service is distinguished by its warmth and professionalism. Top marks.
