This quirky little tea room is well worth a visit. We had lunch of bagels - halloumi and roasted peppers in mine and bacon and brie in my husband's. Both were oozing with flavour. There is, amongst the usual beverages, a whole menu of different teas to choose from. I didn't see any meat on the menu, so carnivores beware,... More

We were lucky to find this little gem open on a Monday (apparently it is normally closed) - we only had drinks but the menu is fascinating with an incredible selection of teas - I had the 'special' which was a was apple with ginger and cinnamon - yum - the others had delicious coffees with warm milk - also... I nave been to Samovar's lots of times as I live in Ely. It is a lovely quirky tea shop with a wide range of teas and is probably the olny place in Ely that fully considers the needs of Vegan's. I am not a vegan but have family members and friends that are. They can go to Samovar and... More

been here a few times now. cakes are good and it specialises on Tea's but you can get coffee. food is a bit ecletic and hit and miss (they love their bagels) tables are very close together and it is often busy. I would say slightly upmarket for Ely which is a pleasant change and not your normal café. worth... More

What a super place for tea! Oolong (delicious - I bought some to take home with one of the beautiful porcelain cups and saucers they stock), Fentimans ginger beer, spiced hot chocolate, hot white chocolate with enormous marshmallows, almond and blackberry cake .. it was feast and in such a charming old building, a perfect end to a long day's... I really enjoyed my visit. Our server instantly knew which of the veggie marked menu items were vegan. I had a Thai peanut of tofu bagel which was amazing. Then some apple cake and vegan ice cream. Despite it being busy service was very good. As a vegan I found this a great wee find and look forward to returning.

I go to the samovar regularly and the quality and standard of service is always excellent ! The food is lovely and the selection of teas and cakes means there is always something new to try. The staff are lovely and very welcoming. If you visit Ely then a trip to the Samovar is a must.

We visited as a family of 3 following lots of recommendations from friends. We had a lovely time - food was great (we had bagels) and although I didn't have a tea, there certainly was enough to choose from.

Thank Becki H
