Stopped by Free Press whilst pub hopping through Cambridge this past weekend. As others have described, Free Press is a traditional cozy pub with primarily cask conditioned beers that can be sipped while playing a selection of board games. Though we did not order any food, we enjoyed our time playing jenga at a corner table with a couple of... More

The snug itself is really snug. Good beer, genuinely old fashioned in a very good way and only crowded because of its size not because the tourists have found it

Sunday lunch in genuinely traditional pub surroundings, where there's a wide range of draught and bottled beer. Seems popular with locals, and I can see why. It has a cosy buzz. The food's good, too, as is the service.

Where do I start, the beer, location, food, service, ambiance, all brilliant, one of the very best pubs in Cambridge if you want a bite with your pint. We recommend the Scotch Eggs (all flavours), the chips are sublime and even the Nachos were top drawer. Too many pubs in Cambridge get good ratings for overpriced OK food, not this... More

I had supper with an old friend in TFP very recently. The land lady and staff are all incredibly friendly, the beer is sublime and the food very good. This is a classic English pub in the old style with nothing of the gastro pub/fast food, designer decor. If there is any criticism it is that it is not quite... More

There's a lot the free press gets right, the charm of the fireplace as you walk in the door, and the local homey feel. You get a sense it's a good place for the locals and it is a refreshing change from the hipster hangouts in town. They have an okay selection of beers on tap and many more in... More

A short walk from Parkers Piece, The Free Press is a quirky pub listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide serving real ale and one real cider. There is a small beer garden at the back. Drink prices rival London. Nice lunch time food menu.
