This is our second visit to the restaurant, and yet again it did not fail as a brilliant night out. The food was excellent in taste, and the menu was nicely varied. The staff were professional and knowledgable, and warmly welcoming. They were attentive to our needs. They made my son's birthday a very memorable evening.

Having dined in other 2 star restaurants in England, this one has the finest cuisine. Well worth a third star which I am surprised it does not have. As good as Le Pre Catalan in Paris. Totally faultless in all areas. Taxi will drop you by a bridge which leads over the River Cam. Restaurant on the left. Book well... More

We usually go to London for afternoon tea and decided to break with tradition! So glad we did. My buddy and I spent the morning Christmas Shopping and then finished the day off at Midsummers. We chose the 8 course menu and just had one portion of cheese - mainly because we were full but the cheeses looked sensational. Each... More

We had been looking forward to this meal since we booked it a few months ago. Not sure if it was because it was a busy Friday night - but the service was appalling. Normally we love interesting flavours and combinations - but the menu was just a bit absurd and as such really only enjoyed the quail, monkfish and... More

A wonderful experience, brilliant friendly staff ,absolutely amazing food. Our table of six had a great time wondering what was coming next, every course a joy to the palette. Only niggle was that coffee wasn't offered at the end of the meal and we couldn't have a pre dinner drink in the upstairs lounge as it was full with other diners.... More

A most original menu which met up to all expectations. Strong French influence at its best with brilliant cheeses and wines. Very popular so important to book.

A special occasion needs a special location this is a our "local" Michelin starred restaurant. The evening was a combination of a sixtieth birthday and a wedding anniversary - we booked well in advance for a Saturday night, arriving just before our approinted time at 7.15pm, shown straight to table and immeadiately assured that they knew of the issues of... You'd think the service would be outstanding if you're having a private room, 13 friends and £20 g&t's, but at 'Midsummer House' we were sorely disappointed. We suspect the movie, 'The Riot Club' may have something to do with the service we received. The group of us were so closely monitored throughout the evening that there was an awkward atmosphere... Reviews here on TA were all over the place. Let me quickly say this is a fantastic restaurant and worthy of two Michelin stars. My wife and I and son attending Cambridge had a fabulous dinner. Service was amazing, the spacing between eight courses was not rushed at all, portions were generous (almost too big?) and my son and I... More
