Located on the river Cam just towards the South West of the city centre, ‘The Anchor’ is a good pub which offers a selection of real ales. We entered via the doors on Silver Street, which meant that we had to go down some steep(ish)...More

Ate here with friends last Sunday - glad we had booked early as it got very busy over lunchtime. Roast dinner very good - nice ambience, good service. Ideal view over river with mad people punting in the freezing cold!!! 😂😂

That's for your review we appreciate it and we are very happy that you were nice and toasty inside eating lunch rather than outside! We do indeed see some antics on the river! See you soon hopefully, don't be a stranger....

Average food, but it's a nice place. Expect the ordinary pub thing. Best in summer I think when the terrace opensMore

Great pub-atmosphere, friendly staff, great Greene King ales, and excellent fish & chips with a very tasty peas puré. Spend a few hours here drinking your ale and watch the punters passes by - and relax.

We know the Anchor well and usually pop in when we visit Cambridge, mainly because it’s friendly, full of character and has great views of the river. They also do great chunky chips and sweet potato fries.

We chose this restaurant because of the view of the river and punts, so were disappointed not to be allowed to sit near the window. Apparently window seats are reserved for groups of four, and, as the restaurant was almost empty, most of these seats...More

Many thanks for your feedback, we do where possible seat people in our wonderful bay windows and as you can imagine these are always requested first by reservations especially by larger tables. Service charge is common in Cambridge but also discretionary and we will always...More

The atmosphere and welcome was so warm. The food was delicious especially the fish and the kale was perfectly cooked. Staff were professional and helpful. This was a return visit and definitely one of the best.

Popped in here for a nifty Friday lunch. Most main courses are £14-£16. So not the cheapest on offer - but is in a mega tourist hotspot (on the river next to the punt hire people - not that there was much of that going...More

The food was very nice however the portion sizes were ridiculously small. In fact the majority of us ended up going to MacDonalds as we were hungry , not peckish but hungry. The portion sizes also varied greatly plate to plate.More

Many thanks for your feedback - due to the nature of our menu our Christmas dinner is more wholesome than the lighter dishes and as it was three courses we balanced it so our guests were not left feeling uncomfortable and are sorry to hear...More
