Looking for a variety of steak on the menu? This is the place for you. Steak explained in detail, with recommendations on how to have it cooked. Then served well and tasting amazing. Would definitely recommend. Our waiter, Raul, was very helpful and pleasant.

During renovations to the Chop House there was a Pie and Mash pop - up service. The stake and Ale pie with Gravy , Mash and Mushy Peas was first rate. I hope the Pie and Mash pop up will be seen as a regular offering in Cambridge.

This is a great location for a Sunday roast though a little frustrating because the restaurant is often quite cramped and too busy. I prefer the John's chophouse if I have the choice - the menu is a little more varied and the ambience calmer. The prices are relatively high in both, though I feel you get what you pay... More

Yes, it's a decent place, and should be given the prices. They do meat well, but had none of the advertised venison dishes despite the limited menu. That was most disappointing as our mid-sized group had come here especially for that game. The faggot dish is a good Hester idea but the partridge was dry and the faggot pretty modest... More

I went here on a work Christmas do and it was ideal as we had a private room to ourselves big enough for the 16 of us. The service was friendly and the food was good - well cooked and tasty. It's central and close to pubs for before meal drinks.

We had two courses for £14 (£2 extra for the steak which was worth it!) Great food, lovely service and amazing value!

We had dinner at the Chop House during a family trip in Cambridge. Food was excellent and the staff very kind. The location in the city centre is very convenient.

Visiting Cambridge for the world-renowned Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols on Christmas Eve, we pre-booked lunch at The Cambs Chop House partly due to its central location close to Kings College, The Grafton Centre and the various Park & Ride Bus Stops, and it didn't disappoint. In our small party of four, we had an +80yr old and upon... More

Lovely staff, great location. Upstairs cold, downstairs much better. Food average on this occasion - dry rosemary mash, burned steak... Our first visit, will try again because places have their off days and my fellow diners enjoyed their meals.

Description
Located in the heart of Cambridge, opposite Kings College Chapel, The Cambridge Chop House is a traditional British bar and restaurant that has been popular with locals and visitors from further afield since it opened in 2007. Split over two levels, the ground floor boasts views of Kings College Chapel while the basement is an intimate, atmospheric cellar split into four rooms. The menu offers British classics made from locally sourced ingredients and the two course set lunch and pre-theatre menu is excellent value for money. Popular dishes include Mutton Barnsley chops; whole sea bass with wholegrain mustard sauce; and daily changing sausages made on site. The hearty portions are best served with local ales straight from the cask or wine from an extensive list.
