Very rustic appearance but the food and service were excellent. Food and certainly drinks a tad expensive but then you don't go every week

St John's chop house is a nice little restaurant but parking is a bit of a problem . The food is of a good standard service is good without being pushy the specials board is worth a look as it is charged daily assume the main stays the same for quite some time me will be going back

I had booked a table for four at this restaurant as they seemed to cater well for coeliacs. As it turned out, the coeliac in our party couldn't come but we kept the reservation neverthless. We were seated upstairs by the door. Good for people watching but bad for the draught caused by the doors being opened by prospective clients.... More

Great game bird and rabbit faggot but wow so much. Lovely to see partridge on the menu and the rabbit faggot could be a tad smaller but what was left was turned into a good soup. Wine selection good yet I made the wrong choice of desert wine going for the red one on the menu yet the sticky toffee... More

Came here for a birthday tea with my daughter. We both found that what we wanted was on the early bird menu so we had 3 excellent courses for under £20 each. Food was superb and the service was excellent with friendly and attentive staff.

Four of us were meeting up after a day spent in Cambridge and before going to the theatre. I had booked this table online and the process was very smooth. We were seated downstairs which I have never done before here and it was absolutely lovely. There are low ceilings and it feels very intimate but there is no danger... More

Some of our party received their food cold or just warm. One sent their meal back, and it came back to the table heated, but appeared to be micro waived. Very nice staff but won't be returning.

I was looking forward to dinner at the chop house as it appeared to be recommended and part now of Cambridge cultural eating experience! What I experienced was sadly far from that: It seemed more like a commercially driven lacking I. All charecter pretty poor service and not good food at hefty prices for the standard of the previous three... More

Stumbled upon this whole wandering Cambridge on a day trip...as it was Sunday felt it was fitting to sit down for an old fashion English Sunday roast. The service and meal was excellent. The lower ground seating also felt very cozy and hearty. Great first introduction to Sunday Roast for mom who is not a huge meat fan but are... More

Description
Located in the heart of Cambridge, opposite Kings College Chapel, The Cambridge Chop House is a traditional British bar and restaurant that has been popular with locals and visitors from further afield since it opened in 2007. Split over two levels, the ground floor boasts views of Kings College Chapel while the basement is an intimate, atmospheric cellar split into four rooms. The menu offers British classics made from locally sourced ingredients and the two course set lunch and pre-theatre menu is excellent value for money. Popular dishes include Mutton Barnsley chops; whole sea bass with wholegrain mustard sauce; and daily changing sausages made on site. The hearty portions are best served with local ales straight from the cask or wine from an extensive list.
