We had our Christmas party last night and have to say for the amount paid (£50pp) I was Extremely disappointed. The meal was ok at best, I have definitely had better at cheaper parties. As for the 'free' bar where do I begin?! To start there were 3 members of staff to serve around 300 people, this was never going... More

I looked after a party of 60 people for lunch - including the Lord-Lieutenant, the Lord Mayor and two former Lord Mayors, and members of England's primary patriotic society, the Royal Society of St George. Elena, the new restaurant manager quickly took charge and understood our requirements: there were plenty of staff to look after us, and the food was... More

We arrived late as train was late. Our waitress was a delight, friendly, helpful and businesslike. Food was most enjoyable. Soup v tasty, duck delicious and perfectly cooked. I had baked Alaska that I wasn't terribly impressed with but my daughter loved her chocolate cheesecake. Wine excellent though not cheap. Thoroughly enjoyable meal.

Stayed at the hotel and the breakfast wasn't really up to much and majorly lacked in taste, also sat down for fish finger sandwiches for lunch one afternoon chips and onion rings were lovely but the bun and fish fingers were over cooked, hard and tasteless.

We dined there twice. The first night I had steak which was great and I really enjoyed the whole meal. The second night I tried there curry which tasted like a ready meal from a supermarket. Not good.

Went for afternoon tea. 13 pounds got me a scone that had been so microwaved its inside was hard and tea from teabags. Combined with the desultory service, it was less underwhelming. The lime mouse cake, however, was delicious, and they were willing at the last minute to make me vegetarian sandwiches.

Truly lovely food, and the service is brilliant. Nice and peaceful restaurant. It doesn't seem to get too busy either!

Food is very average and not worth a quarter of the price they charge. The atmosphere is very unwelcoming and staff treated us as if we weren't good enough to be there. Paid for a three course meal and left after just the main meal as we felt so uncomfortable - definitely would not recommend.
