Mary Ann's is a well established bar and restaurant in the beautiful village of Castletownshend. The current owners, Fergus and Patricia O'Mahony, are at Mary Ann's since 1983. We serve lunch and dinner every day from March to November and then November to March Wednesday to Sunday lunch and dinner. We have a restaurant overlooking the sea upstairs dining in our old fashioned bar downstairs and in season in our walled garden and vine room. We sell modern Irish and European cuisine and add some Asian Fusion dishes. We have a comprehensive wine list and an art gallery upstairs selling Irish and international modern art. We have won many awards for our food and are featured in over 40 guides worldwide…
We went here on the recommendation of Conor after his walking tour and it did not disappoint. The young staff were lovely and we sat out the back in the sunshine and had an extra glass of wine afterwards. Pure bliss.
I returned to Mary Ann’s after a 14 year hiatus this week to find it was as consistently good as ever! The fish and seafood here is unparalleled and definitely Michelin star quality, very reasonably priced. Love this place.
booked here as was told its was great. wasnt as much fish on the menu as hoped. the goats cheese salad was not baked/fried properly so it was still claggy / chalky in the middle and was quite expensive for what i got. salmon was...okay-ish. burger was just average, and fish was expensive for quality. staff seemed okay. poor wine choice.
the one thing we didnt like was being stuck in the corner below the stairs, next to grubby dirty public phone box and loads of junk and crap like some sort of hoarding is going on. old xmas menus and directories, now there is old knock knacks and there is just junk / rubbish, it felt very dirty and grubby around us - have a clear up will you - its not hygenic, oh but we did have a spider watching us all evening !!
would have only got a 2 if it wasnt for the friendly young staff
strange experience and sadly over ratedMore

Had a lovely meal at Mary Ann’s. Mussels and chowder to start, rolled cod for mains… Irish coffee to finish. Roaring fire and great service from Fergus.
Can’t wait to go back in August… short walk from the wonderful Castle hotel.
I would imagine the premises are reasonably dog friendly but at busy times might not be comfortable for a dog. It does have a large open area at the rear, beautiful on a fine day.
For certainty why not phone ahead and ask.
