We live in the area and I have been watching the renovating with interest as had eaten there with the previous occupant. We had heard some reviews on the grape vine so decided to pop in for lunch. We like Pieminster in Cardiff and understood...More

My wife and I dropped in for lunch, and both chose the chilli con carne. Although hot and tasty, and with perfect rice, the portion size was very small for the price of £10.25 each. It is a lovely restaurant with excellent, friendly service, but...More

We ate here while staying locally and were made really welcome. Excellent food - we were spoilt for choice.

It's the only pub within miles and can't have many local folk to keep it in business, so I guess it has to strive to be different. But why "pie emporium"? It's an attractive building, the service was good and the staff were very friendly....More

The pies were tasty but I would not call it gourmet food, more like cafe food. One of our pies was actually burnt. Veg soggy and unimaginative. Yorkshire puddings did not arrive, no apology or upfront explanation. I would not return as I think the...More

Recently refurbished after a lengthy shutdown, it promotes its gourmet pie kitchen, and pies are all that appear on the menu. Tasty but nothing great, and not over-sized, and no great quantity of chips to accompany them, so if you're feeling hungry... Good real ales....More

We stopped here for a light lunch to break up our journey to Shropshire. The property re-opened in April following extensive renovation which has been very well done. Limited parking available outside and the property is adjacent to a main road. Outside seating available. Received...More

We had a bad experience here. Food wasn't great. I was expecting far better from a place that advertises as gourmet and charges accordingly. Battered seafood starter was very small and nothing at all special. Steak and kidney pie (or as they call it Kate...More

We decided to visit the recently opened Hundred House Gourmet Pie Kitchen for an evening meal, we thought that the concept offered a unique opportunity to promote the humble pie into a fine dining experience. The pies themselves did offer some promise when they were...More

Constructed during 1524 using local Radnor stone and under the reign of King Henry VIII, The Hundred House was built for use as the first formal Radnorshire Court House and obtained its name due to it serving initially 100 families and then 100 towns, villages and hamlets in the county. Judges ruled over civil and criminal cases for 350 years until the 1870’s when the Courts were transferred to the larger local town of Presteigne and the redundant Tudor/Medieval property was converted for use as a public house. Having been acquired by new owners in 2015 and following a major investment (during which the property was also extended with traditional Oak Framed materials and construction methods) the restored/renovated property reopened in April 2017. The original court house is now a family home and the Free House (The Hundred House Inn) occupies the site of the Barn & Stables that was built to serve the Judges, Legal Officers & members of the public whilst visiting the courts.
