Excellent, called in for lunch, really helpful staff, accommodated my GF and dairy free daughter with no fuss. Lovely atmosphere with Xmas tunes and real fires. Food although not extensive was very good. Will return and can highly recommend. 👍

Very very nice village pub in Thorpe, on the TissingtonTrail. Super helpful, and genuinely friendly staff, comfortable, good menu and quality food at reasonable prices. You won't be disappointed - worth finding.

Dropped in for lunch today at the end of a short walk around the nearby Tissington Trail. It's a small cosy pub, warm and nicely decorated for Christmas. I'm a Coeliac and was pleased they were able to cater for a gluten-free lunch with several options available. I had the beef burger (with gf bun). This was one of the... More

Such a lovely pub in a great location, the interiors of the pub are perfect, just what you want - fires, blankets, open stone and wooden features. The food was good, the lunch menu serves burgers, platters and sandwiches mainly - we all had beef burgers or bean burgers, all good - not amazing but VERY good value as all... More

We were on our way to hike Thorpe Cloud and realized we hadn't eaten in a while. Well right as we were kicking ourselves we turned a corner and there it was, The Old Dog. We didn't know what to expect but it was fantastic! And lots of others knew it too. Plenty of locals there. I had the smoked... More

Found this lovely, family-run pub while out walking with hubby and springer puppy along the Tissington Trail today, mid-way between Ashbourne and Tissington, It was amazing to find such a beautiful, warm and welcoming pub which was happy to allow our rather bouncy puppy inside so that we could enjoy a bite to eat. The staff were very welcoming and... More

Do not be fooled by the slightly lifeless exterior, this Pub is a gem. Candlelit, even at lunchtime, two stacked log burners and a super welcome staff. We had the burger and chips and this is so often done badly but in this case it was the best prepared and cooked burger that I can remember. Real fleeces furnished the... More

We found this delightful Pub after visiting Ilam and doing a great walk. This was just what we needed. Right from entering the outlet to a nice welcome to enjoying the food and delightful beer the whole experience was very satisfying. Firstly I was given the chance to try the real ales on tap and my wife was given a... More

This is the second time we've visited The Old Dog, having originally come across it by accident when walking our dog along the Tissington Trail. Everything about the place is great. If the weather's warm, it's great to sit outside. Staff bring a bowl of water and a treat for dogs. This has happened on both occasions that we've visited.... More
